Dear HDS Community,

As we edge closer to the start of school, just five weeks from now, I am pleased to share the second revision of our Reopening Plan. We have highlighted changes to version #1 in yellow, and we have added a Frequently Asked Questions section as well. Our plans continue to evolve as conditions change, and we will continue to update you in the remaining weeks of summer.

I cannot stress enough how important it is that we work together as a community to ensure that we are able to safely open and remain open to our students this fall. The School has undertaken several measures to prepare the campus for reopening including upgrading the school's filtration system, investing in handwashing stations, tents for outdoor spaces, automated soap dispensers, plastic shields and plexiglass barriers for classrooms, and significant technology upgrades for virtual learning. These measures alone are not enough. To ensure that our teachers, staff, and your children remain safe, we need to commit together to do all we can to keep our community safe. One positive COVID-19 test in our community has the potential to shut down the entire school. Please join me and all members of the HDS community in pledging to do all you can to help contribute to a safe environment by signing the Healthy Community Pledge. Please complete the pledge by August 24th.

Thank you to all who responded to our survey. As of this date, we have heard from most families. 64% of our families have opted to begin school in person; 14% have elected to begin the year fully online; 17% remain undecided, and 5% have not yet responded. In order to allow us to complete our classroom preparations, we ask that you let us know your plans no later than August 24th. The survey has been re-opened, if you have not completed it yet, please do so HERE.

You will receive more information in the coming weeks, including:
  • Updated school supply lists
  • Information on how to login to our new portal. You will need to upload health information, medical forms, and complete other required forms in the portal. For more information on the health requirements, click HERE.
