Ernesto Guevara, already known in the Mt. Auburn community as “Mr. G.”, is excited to be able to continue his work at Mt. Auburn in his newest role as Principal.
Ernesto was born in Los Angeles, California to two hard-working immigrant parents. Growing up, he experienced first-hand many of the same difficulties and challenges that students in urban schools like Mt Auburn experience. In fact, before entering the classroom, Ernesto dedicated 10 years of his life to giving back by doing non-profit work focused around helping youth in the community.
Ernesto is deeply embedded in the MASA community, having spent his entire career in education at MASA. In 2015, Ernesto began his educational career at Mt. Auburn as a 4th and 5th grade teacher, helping his students accelerate their learning. In 2019 he became the new math and science Instructional Coach where he helped teacher and students navigate the uncertainty of at-home learning during the pandemic. In 2020 he was then promoted to Assistant Principal while he completed his Master's Degree from SMU in urban school leadership. He is most proud of the part he played on the team that helped Mt. Auburn earn a TEA rating of 89 last school year.
Mr. Guevara is excited to continue the great work at MASA in his new role and capacity. He has demonstrated over the last few years his unwavering commitment to making MASA a premier school in Dallas ISD. He will work to ensure the school doesn’t miss a beat and students continue to excel in a joyful and supportive environment.
