Luck of the Irish Raffle

January 29, 2023

Dear Members

While January is usually a quiet month for us, we had BIG news this year as we launched our first ever raffle. Earlier this month, all members of record received in the mail a letter and book of "Luck of the Irish" Raffle tickets. We are delighted with the enthusiastic early response!

As mentioned in the letter you received with your tickets, the drawing for $6,000 in cash prizes will take place Wednesday, March 20, after the final lecture of the 2023-2024 series, to be presented in person and live-streamed via Zoom.

You don't need to be present to win, and we encourage all our members, local to Newport or far away, to support this most critical fundraiser of our 2023-2024 Fiscal Year, which ends on March 31, as we close Newport Irish Heritage Month.

Thanks to all who have sent in a gift thus far to purchase one or more raffle tickets. We are very grateful to those who have included an additional gift when purchasing their raffle tickets. If you desire an additional book of tickets or know someone who would like to enter for a chance to win, please email NewportIrishHistory@gmail.com with the full name and mailing address of the person requesting tickets.

This month, we also announce the next talk in our 2023-2024 Lecture Series, to be presented via Zoom on February 26 at 6:00 p.m., featuring guest speaker Christopher Klein. Please scroll down for details and the link to reserve. Also, as mentioned above, "Save the Date" for the final talk in the 22nd Annual Series, set for March 20. Details to come.

Please be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of this email to ensure you don't miss important news.

Hope your New Year is off to a great start!

Best regards,

Deanna

Newport St. Patrick's Day Parade 2024

The 68th Newport St. Patrick's Day Parade, for many the highlight of Newport Irish Heritage Month, is set for Saturday, March 16. The Parade Committee has announced that this year's Grand Marshal will be Rev. Francis O'Loughlin, a Life Member of the Museum of Newport History. The parade will be dedicated to the memory of Thomas N. Kelly, III.

On behalf of our colleagues and friends on the Newport St. Patrick's Parade Committee, we are sharing the opportunity to sponsor the parade and help defray the Committee's expenses to produce this beloved Newport tradition.

Please consider a donation of $10 or more for a listing in the parade commemorative booklet. It's a lovely way to show your support for the parade, and many listings are made in memory of a a deceased loved one.
