Ballroom Dance Classes
The ballroom dance classes have ended for the spring. We hope to offer the classes again in the fall. The participants had a great time learning several dances from the Waltz to County line dances! This was a very special opportunity to learn these dances without going to Tacoma or Seattle. Check out dance lesson photos and videos on Instagram at www.instagram.com/foxislandficra/.
And More Dancing!
Lots of cool dads and daughters attended the Father/Daughter Dance on May 24 and many fun moms and sons came to the Mother/Son Dance on May 25. They danced the night away to music by a great DJ. Beverages and snacks were provided. A good time was had by all. Thanks to Miguel and his volunteers! Two nights of dances brought to you by FICRA. Paying your annual dues helps make these fun events happen!

Another Great Plant Sale

Thanks to everyone who attended the annual Jeff Feagin Memorial Plant Sale in May. There were so many amazing plants at rock bottom prices. No wonder there was a long line out the door to get in! Many thanks to the Fox Island Garden Club, the Sand and Soil Garden Club, and FICRA for their hard work to make this sale happen every year!

Emergency Planning Updates
Have you checked out the video?
The first video (just 3 minutes!) in a series of videos on Fox Island's Emergency Preparedness Team and what they are doing to help make you safe in the event of a major catastrophe, is ready for viewing. Click here to view the first video. You can also go to ficra.org to find this and other videos under "Emergency Planning." For more information and to register please visit www.co.pierce.wa.us/921/Pierce-County-ALERT.
Block Coordinators
The FICRA Emergency Preparedness Committee manages a Block Coordinator Group that exists to encourage emergency prep at the neighborhood level and provide communication in the case of a major event. If you would like to volunteer or would like more information about the Block Coordinator Group or have questions about who your Coordinator is, please email FIBlockCoord@gmail.com. Also visit http://ficra.org/emergency-planning.htm.

Citizens' Patrol Updates

The beginning of summer – it brings warmer weather, therefore, a lot more people out enjoying this wonderful place we call home.  Here are some things we need to be aware of during this time:

  • The boat launch – PLEASE follow all the rules for this location – do not leave TRASH. We have deputy patrols throughout the summer.

  • The sandspit and Fox Island pier hours are 7:00am to dusk (posted) for all activities. PLEASE observe these hours. Both have caretakers who will report any suspicious activity to the PCSD.

  • If you see something that concerns you, PLEASE call the Sheriff’s Department, non-emergency number (253-798-4722). They are the ones who will be able to address the situation.
Your Citizens’ Patrol Members
Thank you!
Alliance Church Youth Group
Public Service Project
Fox Island's Alliance Church youth group worked 4+ hours of public service at the Nichols Community Center on May 30th. The sandbox was screened to remove debris, two yards of chips were added to the play area, the walking/running track was weeded, and the wood from the trees felled at the Spring Cleanup were hauled and stacked at the fire-pit wood storage area.

What's Happening at the Museum?
Coming Soon! The Museum Barn!
Have you heard? The Fox Island Museum is building a new barn! We hope to break ground in early July and finish in October. The barn will house historic farm artifacts and agricultural exhibits. Many of our items have been stored away in a back room for quite a while. This new barn will allow them to be seen by our members and visitors. Thanks to a generous donation from one of our members, we are able to contract for the basic barn construction. More funds are needed to complete the interior and the displays. Below is a photo of a similar barn. We welcome your donations to help us complete the dream!

My Life as a Spy

June's Chapel Chat is presented by island resident Lieutenant General Robert "Bob" Otto - Retired. The U.S. Air Force’s former top spy will give us a look at America’s major threats and why they matter. As a pilot of F-15s, U-2s, and other high performance military aircraft, he will be able to tell us just how thrilling and dangerous the spy game can be.
Bob won’t be sharing any national secrets, but he will give you the inside scoop on what it’s like to be a high level spy and if he feels safe living here on Fox Island.

This event is free and open to the public. Please plan to join us!
