KJH Theatre Presents, The LIttle Mermaid, Jr.

It was an amazing Opening Night for our Kings Junior High School Theatre students on Thursday night. You don't want to miss their production of "The Little Mermaid, Jr." with only 3 shows left!,

Journey "under the sea" with Ariel and her aquatic friends in Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr. In a magical underwater kingdom, the beautiful young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home - and her fins - behind, and live in the world above. But first, she'll have to defy her father, King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula, and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she's the girl whose enchanting voice he's been seeking.

The remaining shows are on January 26, and 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the Kings High School Auditorium. They will also offer a 2:00 p.m. matinee on Saturday, January 27.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students, staff, and senior citizens. Tickets can be purchased online.

Kings Students Perform in Honor Choir

Several students from Kings participated in last weekend's District 13 Honor Choir Festival hosted at Mason High School.

Fifteen Kings students in grades 5-12 participated out of nearly 250 students from twenty-four schools within Butler, Clinton, Preble, and Warren Counties who were selected for this prestigious event. The singers spent time rehearsing with Guest Conductor, Jason Holmes who is the Artistic Director of the Cincinnati Boy Choir and then performed for the public last Sunday.

Students in grades 5-8 were selected by their music teachers based on preparedness, leadership, and enthusiasm for singing in class, in addition to voice quality. Kings High School students were chosen based on interest.

Kings Neighborhood Bridges Program

Neighborhood Bridges is a 501(c)(3) organization that offers direct support and care to children and families. They invite school districts, such as Kings, mental health agencies, and clergy to advocate for those in need – then engage each community to come together to help solve those needs. Neighborhood Bridges serves 23 communities in Ohio and Alabama.

Since 2020 Kings has partnered with the Central Ohio organization which, in 2023 experienced 23% growth in new communities. They filled 2,752 needs and drove impact to 100,943 students and families in need, all the while keeping their administrative expenses at 4%.

Locally, in 2023, the Kings Local Neighborhood Bridges filled 44 community needs and directly impacted 2,899 students in need. Neighborhood Bridges offers swift and efficient assistance to students in need. Every donation directly benefits a student, helping us meet needs promptly. However, they can't do it without our community's help. Sign-up to receive our Opportunities for Kindness emails and join us in fostering positive change within our community.

Many thanks to volunteers Colleen James and Tami Coleman who generously volunteer their time to help others through the Neighborhood Bridges program.
