Schools CLOSED for WHO DEY SNO DEY
"SNO DEY" REMINDER

NO SCHOOL on Monday, February 14 to celebrate our Cincinnati Bengals!

The Kings Local School District will also be closed on Friday, February 18 for the purpose of Staff Development and Monday, February 21 to observe Presidents Day.

It was a great Bengals Spirit Week this week in the District. Watch our social media this weekend for a special video highlighting the week. Also, we are hoping that NBC has picked up some of our pictures submitted to them for the Super Bowl broadcast. You may see someone you know!

Our buildings are tallying their donations for the Kings Food Pantry and Matthew 25 Ministries. We will provide a final total of donations in next week's Knight Nation News!

WHO DEY?!!!!

JFB 1st Grade Honors Artist for Black History Month
The first African American woman to have a solo art exhibition at the Whitney in New York City was artist, Alma Woodesy Thomas. She was most famous for her colorful, patterned paintings.

J.F. Burns Elementary 1st graders under the direction of Art teacher, Laura Acierno, celebrated Thomas by creating their own versions of colorful paintings.
KHS English Students American Story Museum
Kings High School English 11 students spent the month of January analyzing stories, speeches, music, artwork, films, and articles from a wide representation of American voices.

After discussion and direction from English 11 teacher, Andrea Nichols, students wrote theme statements based on their analysis, created artifacts that best represented those themes, and designed a museum exhibit to display their work.

On Tuesday, February 8, the students presented their work in the Bradford Learning Commons. They invited staff and guests to view and interact with the exhibit and to reflect on the essential question: What is the story of America?

Below are photos from some of the exhibits when students from Kings Junior High School visited.
Kings Kloset OPEN Saturday
The Kings Kloset will be open on Saturday, February 12 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. on the second floor of the Kings Education Center.

We have very limited space and are only able to take donations that meet the needs of the families we serve. Please refrain from dropping donations at the Kings Education Center. We appreciate your understanding and support in helping us serve the families in our community in the most efficient way.

We greatly appreciate your willingness to give back to our community. However, if you have donations, please contact us first.
COVID-19 Dashboard
Beginning this week, the District is now reporting daily numbers of positive cases and quarantines of COVID-19. Those numbers will be reported by the end of the school day each day. You can find that information on our website. We will continue to report the weekly totals, as well.
CIS Fifth Graders Send Notes to Bengals
Students on Team Positive at Columbia Intermediate School wrote notes, letters, poems, and made posters & pictures for the Cincinnati Bengals players and staff.

Their encouraging words focused on the players' positive character traits using the Character Effect program students learn about in class.

The team would like to offer a huge thanks to one of the team parents who personally delivered the messages to the Bengals bus!

Team Positive is hoping these messages give the Bengals players more motivation and luck as they headed to Los Angeles for Superbowl LVI!!
KHS Has a Life Changer
Congratulations to King High School English teacher, Pete Moore who has been nominated for the 2021-2022 LifeChanger of the Year!

This program recognizes and rewards K-12 school employees who make a positive difference in the lives of students.

Pete received a certificate in recognition of exemplifying excellence, positive influence and leadership. He was nominated by an anonymous community member who said, "He makes amazing connections with his students and encourages them to feel comfortable being themselves."

There are 56 nominations from the state of Ohio who are in the running to be LifeChanger of the Year which means Mr. Moore and Kings High School have the chance to win cash prizes!

Show your support for Mr. Moore by leaving a positive comment on his nomination page.
