The first of two Community Information Nights takes place next Thursday, February 8, at 7:00 p.m., at Columbia Intermediate School.
Join Kings Superintendent Greg Sears and Treasurer Mike Morrow for more information regarding the upcoming bond issue, facilities plan, new high school solution, and District financial information.
The Kings Local School District has placed a Bond Issue on the March 19 primary ballot. If approved by the community, the bond Issue would fund a new Kings High School and an addition at Columbia Intermediate, which will address the overcapacity challenges throughout the District.

KHS Mock Trial Team Advances to Regionals | |
Kings High School Mock Trial teams competed in the District Competition on January 26 at the Warren County Courthouse.
Team #1 (pictured above) won all 6 judges, qualifying for the Regional Competition on February 16. They also won 2 Best Attorney Awards, one for Thomas Lu and one for Lucy Taylor. Additionally, Thomas Lu won as Best Witness in the morning trial.
Team #2 (pictured below) won 3 of the 6 judges and Lauren Rubel (pictured below) won Best Attorney in the morning trial and Best Witness in the afternoon trial.

Members of the Kings High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) recently competed in the 2024 BPA Regional competition. Twelve KHS students qualified to compete at the State level at the State Leadership Conference on March 7 and 8 in Columbus, Ohio.
The students who qualified for State are Austin Staubitz (3 events), Ethan Livingston (2 events), Franklin Dominguez-Davis (2 events), Ian Lynch, Parker Wind (2 events), Michael Barger (2 events), Levi Millar, Nora Spelic, Hanna Cook, Mia McIntosh, Charlie Reeder, Keira McCoy, and Colt Bennett.
The Kings High School BPA students are taught by Cassandra Barnes, Reggie Holtrey, Kelly Shields, and Isaac Trybus.

Business Professionals of America (BPA) is a national, cocurricular, career/technical organization for students in middle school, high school, and college business and technology programs.
Through BPA, Ohio students compete at the regional, state, and national levels in more than 50 Workplace Skills Assessment Program events, engage in community and leadership service activities, and meet business students across the state and country through participation in our programs.

2024 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards | |
We are proud to announce this year's winners in the 2024 Scholastic Art and Writing Competition.
Kings High School students received 10 Gold Keys, 23 Silver Keys, and 37 Honorable Mentions this year. Entries are judged without knowledge of the student’s gender, age, ethnicity, or hometown by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts. Jurors look for originality, technical skills, and the emergence of personal vision or voice.
We wish the best of luck to our Gold Key winners, Marlo Adams, Eleanor Flinders, Logan Rankin, Rebekah Reed, Nora Spelic (3 pieces), Hayley Tudor, Kaira Walsh, and Annika Kleinhenz, as their work continues on to the national competition. Only 7-10% of all regional submissions are recognized with Gold Key Awards.
KHS Silver Key winners are Nora Spelic (2 pieces), Atlas Alcorn, Jorie Allison, Grant Arnesen (3 pieces), Eleanor Flinders (3 pieces), Averie Hacker (2 pieces), Jocelyn James, Bella Land, Joy Ma (2 pieces), Keira Picard, Rebekah Reed (2 pieces), Kaylee Thompson, Kaira Walsh, and Claudia Witter (2 pieces).
Honorable Mentions are TJ Hoolehan (3 pieces), Charlotte Roe, Nora Spelic (6 pieces), Brennan Abbott, Marlo Adams, Grant Arnesen, Sophia Beattie, Hanna Cook, Kennedy Cooke, Savannah Douglas, Eleanor Flinders (2 pieces), Katherine Hagen (3 pieces), Averie Hacker, Jocelyn James, Bella Land, Hayden Mitchell, Rebekah Reed (3 pieces), Charlotte Roe (4 pieces), Kaira Walsh, and Nigina Zokirjonova (2 pieces).
The students are supervised by KHS teachers Angie Guilfoyle, Kelly Shields, Cassandra Barnes, Carrie Cooke, and Stacy Hoffert.
One student from Kings Junior High, 7th grader Anna Goldcamp received Honorable Mention for two of her works of art that will be displayed at the Scholastic Art Show at the Cincinnati Art Academy, 1212 Jackson Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202. Anna's Gourmet Candy Apple was also displayed at the OMLA conference this past fall. (see above)
Anna will receive her awards at an opening night on February 9 from 5:00- 8:00 at the Art Academy. Exhibition Dates: February 9 – February 18.
Public exhibition hours are 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Additionally, Senior artist, Nora Spelic, was chosen by Carrie Cooke and Angie Guilfoyle to have a print of her work as part of the High School Art Exhibition in the Ohio Representatives Building in Columbus. Her painting entitled And We'll Feed the Land will represent Kings High School. Congrats Nora!
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is the longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in the U.S. and the largest source of scholarships for young artists and writers.

Kings Opportunites Fair Next Week | |
Kings High School is hosting an Opportunities Fair on Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 6:00-7:30 pm.
Representatives from various local colleges and agencies will provide information about colleges, transition and disability services, the military, and adult service providers. This is a good time to obtain information to support your student’s future plans.
Agencies that will be in attendance include Xavier University, Wright State University, Miami University Regionals, Thomas More University, Northern Kentucky University, Mount St. Joseph University, US Air Force, US Army, Ohio National Guard, Warren County Career Center Adult Education, Ohio Means Jobs - Warren County, Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities, University of Cincinnati - TAP Program, Sinclair Community College - Tartan TOPS Program

Kings Choir Family Alumni Celebration | |
On Saturday, March 23, 2024, more than fifty Kings alumni from all around the country, representing two decades of Kings Choirs, will storm The Castle just to sing together again!
Singers will gather to reunite and rehearse on Friday and Saturday with a culminating performance that includes our current KHS Choir Family at 6:30 p.m. All Kings Choir Alums are invited back home to enjoy the celebration and to join us at Putters after the concert!

The Kings Kloset will be open on Saturday, February 3 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. on the second floor of the Kings Education Center.
We have very limited space and are only able to take donations that meet the needs of the families we serve. Please refrain from dropping donations at the Kings Education Center. We appreciate your understanding and support in helping us serve the families in our community in the most efficient way.

In an effort to be "green," the District does not send paper flyers home. We use a platform called Peachjar that houses flyers of community programs and resources.
Parents receive approved flyers via email, and they are posted on our digital flyerboard for easy retrieval. Any organization can distribute information to our community by creating an account!

Kings Athletic Director Eric Taylor said, "This is a major accomplishment and the culmination of a tremendous amount of hard work!"

Kings Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2024 | |
Kings Athletics has named the Kings Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2024. This year's class includes eight former Kings athletes and a Kings Booster.
Congratulations to Genevieve Brewster, Lauren Collier, Jared Dorsa, Marc Downs, Zac Murphy, Dan Sichterman, Matt SIchterman, Megan SIchterman, and Conner Warye.
The nine inductees will be recognized at halftime of the men's basketball game on February 9 and will be inducted at a banquet on February 10 at Riversbend TPC.

Kings Men's Swimmers ECC Champs | |
Congratulations to the Kings High School Men's Swim Team who are the new Eastern Cincinnati Champions. The men's and girls' teams competed at the ECC Championship meet last weekend.
The girl's team finished 3rd overall and the boys' first-place finish is their fourth title in the last five years. Faith Rudowski and Maya Schweikert had perfect meets with 4 out of 4 gold medals.
The teams are coached by KHS teachers, Sam Mizener and Lindsay Six.

Kings Dance Team Named State Champions | |
Congratulations to the Kings High School Dance Team who was crowned State Champions in Small School Game Day last weekend at Heath High School!
Members of the team include Harper Cain, Maddie Huhn, Anyi Metzger, Kennedy Miller, Alexa Sanchez, Cece Stalker, Mackenzie Stalker, Abby Sliter, Jordan Staubitz, Sofia Thomas, and Maria Tormos.
The Dance Team is currently in Orlando, Florida competing at the NDA National Championships. Good luck, Ladies!

Please join the Kings Athletic Booster Club for their annual gala fundraiser, Knight To Remember on Saturday, March 9 at the Marriott Hotel NE. This event supports our KINGS student-athletes! This year's event is sponsored by Sonder Brewing. The evening will begin with a cocktail hour from 5:30-6:30 p.m., followed by dinner, live & and silent auctions, a reverse raffle, and dancing!
This year's theme is VEGAS KNIGHTS and you are encouraged to dress in your favorite VEGAS attire.
