Auditor of State, Keith Faber recently announced that the recent financial audit of the Kings Local School District has returned a clean audit report. Kings’ excellent record keeping has earned it the Auditor of State Award for 2021.

The Auditor of State Award is presented to local governments and school districts upon the completion of a financial audit. Entities that receive the award meet the criteria of a “clean” audit report.

This is the sixth year in a row that Kings has been awarded this prestigious honor! Many thanks to the Treasurer's Office staff, Jane Boehm, Lori Kesner, Jill Nickels, and Tim Scott for their hard work.

This Sunday, March 6 at 2:00 p.m. in New York City, the Kings High School Chamber Choir will make its first appearance at the famous and prestigious, Carnegie Hall.

The Choir, who Director Hope Milthaler refers to as her “Scrappy Sixteen,” was chosen by audition, not only to perform in the mass choir of 150 singers from around the nation, but also as the Featured Choir for the concert. This week, the Choir had the honor of meeting and singing for renowned Choral Conductor Dr. Jeffery Redding, who will rehearse and conduct the mass choir in New York. The Choir will be supported by Scott Hayward (Assistant Director) and Jared Adamson (Collaborative Pianist).

Local Businessman Donates 3-D Printer
This week, Kings resident and Owner of Trella 3D Prints, Jeremy Treleven donated a 3D printer to Kings Junior High School Project Lead the Way (PLTW) class. Mr. Trelevan spoke to the class and was so impressed with what the students were doing he wanted to give them an additional 3D printer to help with the program.

Warren County Career Center Superintendent, Rick Smith presented Jeremy with a plaque to recognize him as the March 2022 WCCC Valued Business Partner. KJH PLTW Instructor, Sara Nicholls nominated Jeremy for his support of her students and program.

Treleven said that 3D printing is the future, and he enjoys talking with students about various opportunities in the field.

KHS Students Participate in Be the Difference Day
Ninety-seven freshman and sophomores at Kings High School participated in a day of character development. Be the Difference Day, formerly known as ReDo Day, is a powerful, high-energy program that guides students through a series of experiential learning processes.

Led by a team from Changepoint under the direction of Pete Bryant, along with several KHS staff members and junior student leaders, the students spent time learning and understanding other people's stories and to focus on what they have in common instead of what divides us.

They learned about stereotyping and coping skills for negative emotions. Students had the opportunity to share their stories in a safe and controlled environment. Through these stories, students learned that nobody has a perfect life which helps them build a vision of compassion and empathy.

The overall goals of the program are to embrace diversity, increase personal power and self esteem, to shift negative peer pressure to positive peer support and to eliminate the accepability of bullying and violence. The program is desinged to unite students with members of the school and community and to empower them to carry the themes of the program back to the greater school population.

A special thank you to the Kings High School PTO for providing food for the students.

KME Students Show Appreciation for SRO
Last week was School Resource Officer Week. Students in Sherisse Washington's second-grade class at Kings Mills Elementary School wrote appreciation notes to SRO Trent Barker

Imagination Library
Have you enrolled your child in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library? This incredible gift of reading in Warren County is made possible by the Warren County libraries. It is a county-wide effort through the Ohio Governor's Imagination Library.

The program will deliver a free book each month to all children from birth to age five. The theme of this program is "Every Child Reads Every Day."

Currently, there are 10,000 Warren County children enrolled in the program; about 900 active Imagination Library readers in ZIP Code 45039. That's about 43% of all eligible children. With your help, we'd like to increase that to 1200, or around 2 of every 3. When those children are ready for kindergarten, the majority of your new students will have three or more years of reading experience.

Do you know a family with a child from birth to age five? Tell them about this program!

Warren County's Imagination Library Program was established in 2020. The Warren County Foundation has created an endowment to support future book purchases and ensure the program remains financially sustainable.
