SLE Students are Recycling Superstars
This month, to celebrate Earth Day, the third-grade Green Gang at South Lebanon Elementary School wanted to show the rest of the student body how much of a difference is made with their building-wide recycling campaign.
On Wednesdays, the students collect all the bins in the school from every classroom, office, and specials teacher. They then weigh the contents of each bin and record the weight. They add together all recorded weights and total the sum for the ENTIRE building.
So far this month, due to the school's recycling efforts, 230 pounds of recyclable materials have been saved from being tossed in the trash and ending up in landfills!
SLE third grade teacher, Juli Elder said that to keep the kids excited about recycling, each week they reward the class/staff member with the heaviest contents the “SLE Recycling Superstars” trophy, and Blue, the Earth squishy!
"It’s been a really fun way to remind the students and staff that we have the chance to make every day Earth Day!" she said.

Kings Theatre Presents Little Shop of Horrors
Kings High School Theatre presents Little Shop of Horrors May 2-4 in the Kings High School Auditorium.
After a bizarre solar eclipse, Seymour finds a bloodthirsty and very unhealthy Venus fly trap and he names it Audrey 2. After placing the plant in the shop's front window, Audrey 2 becomes a commercial success.
This crazy, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down-and-out Seymour as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey 2's out-of-this-world origins and intent toward global domination!
There are four opportunities to see the show – May 2, 3, and 4 at 7:00 p.m. and a 2:00 p.m. matinee on May 4. Little Shop of Horrors is rated PG-13. Tickets are on sale now at www.kingstheatre.net/tickets.

In an effort to be "green," the District does not send paper flyers home. We use a platform called Peachjar that houses flyers of community programs and resources.
Parents receive approved flyers via email, and they are posted on our digital flyerboard for easy retrieval. Any organization can distribute information to our community by creating an account!
