National Leader in Education Innovation to Speak at Kings
The Kings District is excited to host Dr. Bill Daggett on Thursday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m. at Kings High School to present - The Future of Education - Preparing Students For Their Future, Not Our Past. Learn how A.I. and emerging technologies impact the skills, knowledge, and attributes students need to succeed in the changing workplace and society.
For over 30 years, Dr. Daggett has crisscrossed the nation and the industrialized world to lead school reform efforts to effectively prepare students for their future. He is recognized worldwide for his proven ability to move pre-K-12 education systems towards more rigorous and relevant skills and knowledge for all students.
His message aligns with the District's Power 5 Future Skills Strategy and Action Plan that provides our Kings students with all the tools to navigate an ever-changing world and to be highly competitive and prepared for success beyond the walls of our school district. Those skills are critical thinking, collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and career, college, and life readiness.

In case you missed it, the District has been studying the state of student growth in enrollment and the challenges of overcrowding in our school buildings. Cropper GIS Consulting conducted a capacity and demographic study of our District buildings and also created a building utilization forecast.
The data shows that the majority of our school buildings are over capacity. We are currently assessing the data to better assess our next steps of educating our students in safe and positive learning environment.

Joshua's mom, Nancy Quinn believes that his success is in part from the support he recieved in his studies as Kings High School; Specifically from Sam Mizener and Jason Shields in concentration with Computer Science and Engineering. She said, "I attribute Josh’s success to both of you and all that you did to support him.You both are amazing teachers and give so much to your students, and they are going out into the world and doing great things."

Kings Hoxworth Blood Drive
Kings High School hosted its first of two Hoxworth/Jorge Gonzalez Memorial Blood Drives this week.
Although the number of donors was down this time, they had 37 donors, 11 were first-time donors, and collected 37 units of live-saving blood with a potential of 111 lives saved!
The Drive has special significance to the Kings Local School District. In October 2021, we lost an incredible teacher, colleague, and friend to covid. His name is Jorge Gonzalez. He was a Kings High School Spanish teacher and very passionate about life-saving blood donation. Jorge started coordinating Hoxworth Blood Drives in January 2004 and hosted his last one in September 2021. Under his coordination, the drives collected 1262 units of blood; the potential to save the lives of more than 3786 patients - that’s LEGACY!
"Hoxworth appreciates your organization’s commitment to saving lives. The donors who participated in the blood drive have helped ensure that there is an adequate blood supply for the patients in our community," said Sharon Ficklin-Hardy, Hoxworth Donor Recruiter, Donor Recruitment/Community Relations.

In an effort to be "green," the District does not send paper flyers home. We use a platform called Peachjar that houses flyers of community programs and resources.
Parents receive approved flyers via email, and they are posted on our digital flyerboard for easy retrieval. Any organization can distribute information to our community by creating an account!
