What will happen at CIS in the new plan?
We listened to the community’s feedback in our Thoughtexchange when they told us that they wanted to keep neighborhood schools. In the the Kings Master Plan, 6 classrooms will be added and the grade configuration will be changed to make Columbia Intermediate School a 4th and 5th grade building. All elementary schools will then become kindergarten through 3rd-grade schools to help make room for the future growth. Our largest class is our first grade with 420 students compared to our senior class of 294.
CIS was built in 1997 with a design capacity of 742 based on the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC). Today’s enrollment is 724.

National Principal's Month
|
|
October is National Principal's Month. This month we honor our Kings Principals for their significant impact on the success and well-being of our students. We will be celebrating our District Principals throughout the month.
We asked Mrs. Cheryl Montag, Principal at J.F. Burns Elementary why she loves being a principal.
"
I love being a Principal because I get to celebrate successes every day! This picture makes me smile because writing was such a difficult task for this student and he showed perseverance and wrote a book. His friend was also there to join in on the celebration," she said.

AP Spanish Literature and Culture Exam Results
|
|
In May 2019, there were only 89 students in the state of Ohio who took the AP Spanish Literature & Culture exam, the highest level foreign language exam. Kings made up 15 of those 89.
We are proud to say that 100% of Kings students passed the exam. That means that everyone scored a 3 or higher on a very difficult exam (a 5 is the highest grade).
Congratulations to our students and staff!
