Special Board Meeting
In case you missed it, The Kings Local School District Board of Education held a Special Board Meeting on Tuesday, November 26, 2019. At that meeting, they voted to place a 4.7mill bond issue on the March 17, 2020 ballot. This bond issue will be the same issue that failed in November.

In this video, hear from Kings Board President, Peggy Phillips on the Board's decision.
Lists for Learning (Kings Wishlist)
Kings Wishlist, also known as Lists for Learning has made a big impact on our Kings educators and community.

A few years back, Kings residents and parents to 3 Kings students, Emily and Joey Pursifull felt there was a need in the public school system to have more tangible resources. And, they knew there were other families out there that, like them, would be willing and able to help.

Their dilemma was not knowing what items were needed/wanted by the dedicated and creative teachers in our schools. They searched the internet to see if there was a program that provided this, but couldn't find it. So, they developed a program and launched the program at South Lebanon Elementary last November and it was a huge success!

Eighty items worth over $1,000 were donated to SLE in the matter of hours. They have now expanded the program to Kings Preschool, J.F. Burns, Columbia Intermediate, Kings Junior High and Kings High School.

So far this school year, over 640 items have been donated to help our students and staff in our District. Emily Pursifull said, "The program not only is allowing our students to have more learning resources, but I have heard countless times from teachers and principals what a HUGE morale boost this program is."

Our community can visit  www.listsforlearning.com  and click on "Schools." From there, select the school, and then find the teachers' wishlists. All payments go through Amazon and are shipped to the school. There is a representative at each school that logs and tracks each item and then the Pursifulls compile a monthly report that is submitted to the District treasurer.

We are thankful for the Pursifulls for bringing this program to the District and all of the parents and community members who have purchased items to fulfill our staff members' wishlists! #KingsStrong

To see more of the items donated, visit Twitter and search for @kingswishlist or @lists4learning. Below are just a small example of the donations being received.
Kings Artists Donate Work to Local Fire House
Two large pieces of artwork have been donated to local fire houses created by some Kings High School and South Lebanon Elementary students. A presentation and dedication of the artwork to Deerfield Fire Station 57 and Union Township Fire Station took place on November 7, 2019.

Two large paintings and three individual works were presented by the students who created them. These pieces will remain a part of the 9/11 Remembrance Collection, which is a collection of art that is displayed throughout Warren County.

Stand2Serve Director, Robin Kiley said, "With Kings High School leading the way by its example, we can hope other schools in Warren County might encourage their students to create and contribute art, music or literary expression to the 9/11 Remembrance."

The painting on the left was created by Kings High School painting students. This will be on display at the Deerfield firehouse 57.

The painting on the right was created by South Lebanon Elementary fourth graders. This artwork will be displayed at the fire house in South Lebanon.
VOTE for Kings Theatre!
Last Spring, Kings Theatre performed the The Addams Family. We are thrilled to report that this show has been nominated as the best non-professional musical in Cincinnati for 2019, as well as nominations for some of the individual students; a total of 5 nominations!

Kings Director of Musical Theatre, Scott Hayward said, "This is A HUGE honor for us, especially since we are the only high school to be nominated." The actors, cast, and crew would appreciate if you could vote for them! Voting is open now through the end of December.
