Kings is Back on the Ballot
|
|
The March 17, 2020 Primary Election ballot will include Issue 8, Kings Local Schools 4.7 mill bond issue to fund the District's Facility Master Plan.
The bond issue will pay for the demolition of the current Kings Junior High School and a new grades 6-8 middle school will be built. Kings Junior High was originally built in 1967 with a design capacity of 553 based on the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) formula. Current enrollment is 683.
Traveling teachers will most likely be a necessity as more staff is added. Orchestra and Band space is over capacity and choir classes travel due to the high school due to no space in the junior high. Additionally, classroom sizes are inconsistent due to old classrooms being small and unable to accommodate the large class sizes. Lastly, there are not a sufficient number of restrooms to accommodate the number of students in the building, and parking has become an issue.
Additionally, the current bus garage structure will remain and a new bus facility will be constructed on property owned by the District on Mason Morrow Millgrove Road.
Watch the video below to learn more.

This special program is presented by Captain Shawn Bain (Ret.) and Sgt. Michael Powell (Ret.), both retired undercover narcotic offers courtesy of a grant from the High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA).
This presentation will be held on Thursday, March 5 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Kings Junior High School Multipurpose Room (enter door D-5 from the parking lot located between the Kings Junior High School and the football stadium).
We hope you'll join us!
