The March 17, 2020 Primary Election is just right around the corner. The ballot will include Issue 8, Kings Local Schools 4.7 mill bond issue to fund the District's Facility Master Plan.

Congratulations to the students of Kings High School who recently participated in "Pennies for Patients" fundraiser to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The school raised $2,397.84!

Kings Students Volunteer in Mexico
|
|
Sixty-one Kings students along with some Kings parents and staff members traveled to Monterrey, Mexico over the President's Day holiday to volunteer with Back2Back Ministries.
While in Mexico, the students served three different orphanages by completing projects and interacting with the orphans. Kings High School Teacher,
Stacey Duckworth
said, "As a new teacher to the district, it was powerful to see how kind, hardworking, and compassionate our students are. They worked so hard and really bonded as a community." She added, "Kings High School students are world changers and I am so, so proud."

Mark your calendars for the KHS College Fair
The Kings High School College Fair is on March 18, 2020. This event is geared toward any student, grade 9-12 who is considering college or the military as a post-secondary option.
Over 70 colleges and universities, both public and private, will be present for the event, in addition to the branches of the military. Students and their families will have the opportunity to seek information and ask specific questions to the Admissions Representatives of the post-secondary institutions.
Students that require accommodations in the classroom setting will also have the opportunity to ask questions to various Disability Services offices in attendance. Additionally, local test prep companies will be present for families to explore that option for their child, and they will be raffling off services for those that attend the evening session! The fair will be open to the general public from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
Come gather information and bring a friend!

Mark your calendars for this year's Knight of Innovation! The night celebrates STEAM education, highlighting innovative projects in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics subjects. Faculty, students, and business partners will present their different fields of study in interactive booths.
It will take place on Thursday, April 16 from 5:00 - 7:30 p.m. at Kings High School.

Preschool Has a New Addition
|
|
A beautiful new piece of artwork adorns the wall in the Kings Preschool Conference Room. Preschool Secretary, Tammy Nelson is the brains behind the project and Childcare Aide, Jessica Hedge used her artistic talent to create a tree that includes the thumbprints of our Preschool students. Nelson said, "The quote at the bottom is so very true. This picture will certainly brighten up the spirits of our families and staff."

Auditions for Kings Marimba Ensemble
|
|
The Kings Local School District’s
Kokorodza Marimba Ensemble
will be holding try-outs for new members over the next few weeks.
The ensemble is open to students of Columbia Intermediate School and Kings Junior High School. Prospective members will be provided with a video demonstration of the techniques and tunes required for the audition, and will check-out a marimba to take home for two weeks to use in preparing for the audition.

Firecrackers Jump Rope Clinic

Do you enjoy jumping rope? Would you like to learn some amazing tricks with some of the best jumpers in the world right here in your own community? If you answered “yes,” then please join us for this exciting opportunity!
The clinics are open to all 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade Kings students and are hosted by Coach Lynn Kelley and her team, The Firecrackers. The clinics will take place on Tuesday, March 3 and Monday, March 9 from 5:00-6:30 p.m.at South Lebanon Elementary School gym.
The cost is $25 for one day or $40 for both. Official Firecracker jump rope $12 extra (optional).
