Kings Staff Covid-19 Vaccinations
This week, the District sent a letter home with regards to staff vaccinations. We were notified that the Kings staff will receive the first dose of the vaccination on Friday, February 19, 2021. The second dose of the COVID-19 vaccination is scheduled for 21 days after the first shot on Friday, March 12, 2021.

In order for Kings staff to receive the COVID-19 vaccination, there will be remote learning days scheduled for Friday, February 19, 2021, and Friday, March 12,  2021.

Kings Schools staff will be required to report to Kings High School to receive the vaccine during the day. Teachers will be communicating with parents and students about what their remote learning days will look like that day.

This vaccination is one important tool in our fight against the pandemic and to help our schools remain open. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
Change in School Quarantine Guidelines
Governor DeWine announced that Ohio has changed its guidance regarding quarantines following an in-classroom exposure in K-12 schools.

As you are aware, originally, the guidelines required a 6ft distance, then new guidance came out requiring only a 3 ft distance. With the latest guidelines, moving forward, students and teachers exposed to a COVID-positive person in school are no longer required to quarantine as long as the exposure occurred in a classroom setting and all students/teachers were wearing masks and following other appropriate protocols.

The change follows an evaluation of virus spread in Ohio schools conducted by researchers with the Ohio Schools COVID-19 Evaluation Team. Preliminary results of the evaluation found no discernable difference in the risk of contracting the coronavirus between those in close contact with a COVID-positive person in the classroom and those who were farther away.

We will continue to monitor each situation individually and may quarantine students if we believe it is necessary. For example, Kings will continue to require quarantines for exposed students in situations where masking and distancing protocols were not followed. The updated quarantine guidance does not apply to lunch and after-school activities, including sports.

Lastly, we will continue to distance our students as much as possible in the classroom and promote social distancing, mask-wearing, and handwashing.
