This week, the Kings Junior High Hope Squad celebrated Hope Week.
Hope Squad is a peer-to-peer suicide prevention program. Students who participate in Hope Squad are nominated by their classmates as trustworthy peers. The program helps to reduce youth suicide through education, training, and peer intervention.
In honor of Hope Week, the KJH Hope Squad's goal was to spread joy and positivity. They hung posters and positive messages around the school, offered mental health awareness swag for students at lunch, and did their best to increase awareness of Hope Squad to help reduce the stigma around mental health.
This year's KJH Hope Squad members are Vincent Brzygot, Leah Christman, Gabbi Gautraud, Victoria Gorman, Brooklyn Leist, Chloe McCulley, Ryann Schnecker, Levi Miller, Emma Titler, Lainey Ritter, Nate Lyman, Nolan Clark, Ryan Doughman, and Kaylee Thompson.
Great job!

Neighborhood Community Service Club
|
|
Some Kings students who live in the neighborhood of Riverwood Trails started a service club last summer as a way to get out and complete some projects to help their neighbors.
The club is comprised of children ranging in age from 5-13. They have performed yard work, painted kindness rocks for the neighborhood, and just recently spent an afternoon picking up trash along Walnut Street by Kings High School.
All donations go to the Kings Local Food Pantry. Kings Parent, Jackie Moody, said, "The kids just wanted to offer and perform various services for the community while navigating COVID."
Keep up the great work Corina Macy, Stella Godby, Priya Godby, Peyton Moody, Annie Reis, E.J. Reis, Bridget Ries, Reid Whitaker, Ben Whitaker, and, Claire Whitaker.
If anyone would like to suggest a possible project for the club or if they would like to join the Service Club they can contact Jen Macy at jmacy04@gmail.com.

Did you know that you can make Playdoh out of Peeps?
Students in Mrs. Casseday’s class at Columbia Intermediate School completed a fun science experiment... Peeps Playdoh!
In case you would like something to do over Spring Break, they shared the recipe with our readers!
Recipe:
In a microwave safe bowl, add 6 Peeps, 6 tablespoons of flour, and 1 tablespoon of Crisco. Microwave for 40 seconds then stir til you reach Playdoh consistency. Have fun!
