FREE Feeding Program
Today is School Lunch Hero Day! We would like to recognize and thank our Kings School Food Service employees who have always been our heroes, but even so during this pandemic.

Between preparing healthy meals for America’s students, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile, school nutrition professionals are true heroes.

On Friday, May 1, 2020, we will celebrate the 8th Annual School Lunch Hero Day! School Lunch Hero Day is a chance to showcase the difference school nutrition professionals make for every child who comes through the cafeteria.

Kings Superintendent, Tim Ackermann said, "The efforts of our school nutrition program to keep children fed during this public health crisis have truly been heroic."

To date, Kings Food Service has served 33,000 meals since the middle of March .
The FREE Feeding program will continue through May 18. This program is for all children 18 and under, not just for those on free or reduced meals. Each student will receive 5 breakfasts and 5 lunches at NO COST to the parent.

There are two locations available for food pickup; Joshua's Place or Columbia Intermediate School. Both locations will hold pickup from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

Thank you to the Kings Food Service Department and Kings Staff volunteers for feeding our community! #KingsStrong
Kings Bond Update
The Kings Local School District’s bond issue on the April 28 Primary Election ballot appears to have failed pending final certified results on May 8.

The District would like to extend gratitude to the countless volunteers who have worked tirelessly to make sure our community was informed about the needs we face as a school district.

It appears the issue lost by 227 votes, according to unofficial results released on Tuesday, April 28. Even though there are provisional and mail-in ballots that have not been counted, the results do not look promising.

We will continue to work with the Board and community to find ways to address our enrollment growth and crowded buildings.
Staff Appreciation Week
Next week, May 4-8 is Staff Appreciation Week. We hope you'll join us on our Facebook page and Instagram page to share your appreciation for our Kings Staff. Be Counted Ohio
The Census is counted once every decade. It is important that every Ohioan is counted so our state receives the appropriate amount of federal funding that helps support our communities, schools, public safety resources, and improve our roads.

The U.S. Census Bureau is hiring for a variety of temporary jobs. Pay rates in Ohio range from $14.00 to $23.50 per hour.

Summer Athletic Camps - CANCELED
With the recent order from the Ohio Department of Health regarding the extended closure of school facilities through June 30th, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all Kings Athletic Youth Summer Camps for the 2020 season.

This is a decision we did not take lightly as we know how important our youth camps are for our community and each of our programs. Our summer camps are some of our favorite events of the year as we get to see young Knights enjoy learning their favorite sports from our high school coaches, athletes, and get to see the future of our programs!!

With the recent direction from the Ohio Department of Health regarding school facility closures among other factors, we felt this was the best decision for our camps this year. We are very disappointed we will not be able to see all of our future Knights at their favorite sport camps. Their health and safety, however, will always be our highest priority.
Our coaching staff and department are working on alternative plans to provide virtual skill instruction to our future Knights! Stay tuned for more information coming from our programs and department.

Thank you for your understanding during these unknown times and support of Kings Athletics.
