Kings Superintendent Search
The Kings Board of Education is pleased to announce that Mr. Greg Sears has been offered, and has accepted the position of superintendent of the Kings Local School District.

The Kings Board of Education held final interviews in Executive Session on Wednesday, May 12, 2021.

The Board is expected to take action on the superintendent contract at its May 18 meeting at 6:00 p.m., and — if everything is in order — Sears would begin the transition process through the summer and will formally start on August 1, 2021.

Farewell Seniors
Today marks the last day of school for the Kings High School Class of 2021. It's been a busy week of "lasts" for our seniors, but truly memorable.

KHS Graduation 2021 will take place on Sunday, May 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Xavier University Cintas Center. The ceremony will be live-streamed for your convenience.

We wish our seniors the best in all they do!
KHS Senior Scholar Athletes
For the past 26 years, the Kings Athletic Booster Club and the Kings Athletic Department have honored student-athletes who have maintained excellent academic standards while dedicating their time and energy to Kings athletics. On Wednesday, May 12, the Annual Senior Scholar-Athlete Luncheon was held at TPC Rivers Bend.

Twenty-One students were recognized at the luncheon. Historically at this luncheon, the students are accompanied by their parents and a Kings staff member who has particularly influenced their academic and athletic success. This year, due to COVID restrictions, the staff members were unable to attend but left a video message for their students during the ceremony.

To qualify for this award, an athlete must have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.850 or better for seven semesters at KHS while earning a minimum of five varsity letters in multiple sports, or four varsity letters in one sport. This year's group has an average GPA of 4.28! Click here to learn more about the athletes and their chosen staff member.

Pictured below in alphabetical order: Justin Bayse, Brooke Beattie, Alec Bode, Caleb Chunn, Dominic Corradini, Preston Dickerson, Jenna Donile, Jules Fink, Kiley Ingram, Alex Justus, Joshua Lee, McKenna Lewis, Leah Malburg, Isaac Miller, Neily Pennington, Mia Ridenour,  Payton Schult, Connor Sims, Morgan Smith, Leah Swayne, and Jacob Young.
KHS Senior Academic Awards
On Monday, May 13 members of the Kings High School senior class were honored for achievements in specific subjects, earning scholarships, earning straight A’s, as well as the winners of the Kings Character Award, military appointees, and much more!

Seniors who have already committed to their college of choice were invited to wear a t-shirt that represented their college or military branch. Before the awards program began, these seniors walked into the KHS Gymnasium to be recognized.

Congratulations KHS Seniors!
KHS Baccalaureate
On Thursday, May 13, the Kings High School Baccalaureate Ceremony took place at Christ's Church in Mason. It was a very special night for the KHS Seniors.

The student-led Baccalaureate Ceremony is a non-denominational event that provides a personal opportunity for students and their families to reflect on graduation as a rite of passage. Students gave speeches, sang, and performed for their parents, teachers, and peers.

KJH 7th Grader Doodle4Google Ohio Winner
Congratulations to Kings Junior High School 7th grader, Sofia McLain who has been named the Ohio finalist in this year's Doodle4Google Contest. Sofia's Doodle of an Octopus is one of 54 State and Territory Winners.

Sofia is now in the running to be a National Finalist/Winner! If she wins, she will receive a $30,000 college scholarship, and a $50,000 Google technology package for the school district.

Now we need our Kings Community to help! The winner is determined by votes. PLEASE VOTE by clicking on the grades 6-7 category and look for Ohio!  Voting ends on Friday, May 14 at 11:59 p.m.

This is the second time Kings has had an Ohio winner in the contest. Back in 2013, then KJH 7th grader, Clynn Yeoh was the Ohio finalist! She, unfortunately, wasn’t a National winner but she made us proud!

Google executives will choose the finalists and winner and announce in June. Good luck, Sofia!
Vaccination Clinic Opportunity
The Mason City School District is hosting with the Warren County Health District a COVID-19 vaccination clinic. This vaccination clinic is open to students who are 12-years old and older and their families from the Mason City Schools and Kings Local Schools.

The clinic will offer the Pfizer vaccine for both doses. There is no cost to the student, family, or school district for the shots.

If you know someone who wishes to be vaccinated, please share this information.

Songs For a New World Performance Download
Kings Theatre production of "Songs For A New World" finished up at the end of April and was a high point of the year for the cast, crew, pit orchestra, and even the audience members who were able to see the show in person.

Although 3 out of the 4 performances were sold out, a 150 ticket limit per show made it impossible to let everyone who wanted to see the show into the auditorium to see it.

Thankfully Theatre parent, John Acree, filmed one of the performances from three different angles, recorded high-quality audio, and edited it all to create a beautiful rendering of the show.

Kings Theatre is selling digital downloads of the show for only $10, which is the cost of one ticket.

If you're interested in purchasing one, please fill out this order form, and follow payment instructions.
