School Based Mental Health Services Update
|
|
Kings Social Emotional Health Coordinator, Kim Sellers with an update on school-based therapy.
In an effort to provide consistency across the Kings District and align services with the same agency for grades K-12, our district will be making a change with our school-based Mental Health Partnership from Solutions to Beech Acres, effective in June.
Amy Gill, who is the current therapist for our high school students has been a wonderful resource, advocate, and therapist for the last four years and we appreciate all she has done for our students. Amy and the new therapist from Beech Acres will be working together to make this transition as smooth as possible for the students and caregivers. We will be utilizing the Beyond The Classroom model.
In the next few weeks, Amy will be contacting her clients and their caregivers to be given an option of changing to the new therapist or staying with Solutions in an outpatient setting. All clients will have the choice and may especially be interested in remaining with Solutions if they are currently receiving psychiatry/MEDSOM services.
We would like to thank Solutions for providing services to our students and will continue to refer our families to the agency for Drug and Alcohol services, the PACT program, and outpatient therapy services when school-based isn’t the best fit for the student. Solutions also continues to offer walk-in assessment hours for more emergent needs for SUD and adult services.
We are looking forward to continuing to partner with Beech Acres for grades 9-12. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s school counselor or our Social Emotional Health Coordinator, Kim Sellers at 513.398.8050, ext. 10056 or ksellers@kingslocal.net.
