The site includes information about the 4.96 mill bond issue that will be on the November 5, 2019 ballot, as well as building plans, information on enrollment, finances, timeline, FAQ's, and the Thoughtexchange process.
This website will also give the community the opportunity to contact the District with any questions surrounding the facilities Master Plan and Bond. Please check back frequently as we will be adding updates pre and post election and updating FAQ's as we receive them.
Feel free to share the link with your neighbors who may not be closely associated with the District. It is important that all taxpayers in the District receive the facts.

Eighteen new teachers were hired for the 2019-2020 school year.
There has been a lot of excitement around the Kings District recently. The teachers have been in their classrooms getting ready for their students’ arrival for the first day of school next week. The Teaching and Learning Teams from each school building have held meetings, and many of our staff have attended Professional Development seminars this summer to be ready for the school year. Our Maintenance Staff has been involved in several projects around the District and our Technology Staff has been busy getting all of the District's computer and technology ready to go. Additionally, all schools buildings have been welcoming students back from summer break with special events and fee pay days.
Our Human Resources Department has been busy filling staff positions throughout this summer. Eighteen new teachers join us this school year, as well as dozens of aides and support staff. Be sure to give these new staff members a warm Knight welcome when you see them!
This week they spent two days of new staff orientation. Visit our social media pages where each new teacher is being introduced!

Kings Kloset Stuff-the-Bus a Success!
|
|
The Kings Kloset hosted a Stuff the Bus event last weekend.
The Kings Kloset Stuff-the-Bus event last Saturday saw nearly 70 vehicle drop offs which included cash donations and 8 boxes of non-perishables for the Kings Local Food Pantry.
Bus Driver, Bob, one of the students' favorites and Kim Milazzo, one of Kings Kloset volunteers told us that lots of school supplies were purchased with cash donations.
The Kings Kloset Staff would like to thank the Kings Community for their generosity, especially the kids from the South Cove neighborhood who hosted a Lemonade Stand to benefit the Kloset this summer! (pictured below left)
The Kloset will be open on Saturday, August 10 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. for anyone needing back-to-school clothing and school supplies.

Parent/Student Emergency Notification Protocol
|
|
Please read this important information regarding District emergency plans.
The Kings Local School District takes the safety and security of our staff and students very seriously. As a part of an Ohio Revised Code requirement, the District is required to inform students and parents/guardians before the first day of school each year of our emergency parental notification protocols.
In the event of an emergency where an evacuation of the school building is necessary, we have identified off-site locations (reunification sites) to transport students to safety. In emergency situations, we will disseminate information through our All-Call system, as well as use email, text messages, website, and district social media. Additionally, we will continue to provide updates through the above avenues as needed.
The Kings Local School District believes it is as important for parents to know the resources the district will use in the event of an emergency. It should be noted that an evacuation from any given campus may cause your children to be picked up at a secondary location. If this circumstance occurs, we will utilize a parent reunification form to reunite you with your child.
We will ask parents to be sure that their emergency contact information is up to date in our files in order to be contacted in case of emergency. Feel free to check your account in School Messenger for accuracy, as well.
A Reunification Information Document
will be used in the event of an emergency where a reunification process is required. This document will assist us in releasing your child to you at the reunification site. Please take some time to fill out the form and put it in a safe place in your vehicle to be used as necessary.

Kings Alumnus Creates Mural for KJH
|
|
Don't miss the new mural installation between KHS and KJH!
Darren Goodman, Kings High School Class of 1999 Alum collaborated with Kings Junior High School Art Teacher, Jan Thomann and students from the class of 2023 to create a beautiful mural that lines the hallway between Kings High School and KJH.
The mural entitled, "Peace Begins With Us" is based on a song the Goodman wrote and performed at the 2016 Kings High School Commencement during his speech as the Distinguished Kings Alumni. Some of the lines from the song were used in the mural, such as "Peace begins with you, Peace begins with me, Peace begins with us, and we all hold that key." Goodman said, "Peace ultimately begins with us."
"Using broken glass and discarded materials as a starting point, this project is a metaphor of our ability to pick up the pieces when things don’t work as planned, and reconfigure the pieces in a new and meaningful way," he said.
“Not everything in our lives is supposed to flow as smoothly as glass,” Goodman says, “and as uncomfortable as it may be at times, we as humans must shatter and break, to learn, grow, and form into who we are to become.”
We hope you get a chance to see the beautiful work of Mr. Goodman, Mrs. Thomann and the KJH students.
