KHS 9/11 Senior Day of Service
|
|
As our nation prepares to commemorate the events of 9/11/2001, our Kings High School Senior Class honored that day on Thursday, September 9 by taking part in the 9/11 Day of Service.
Ten years ago, former KHS teacher, Tim Guilfoyle and a group of students in the class of 2011 created the Community Service Club and participated in their first day of service. Our KHS Class of 2022 represented the Kings District well yesterday as they continued the tradition for the 10th year in a row participating in community service duties around our community and the Greater Cincinnati area.
Mason Deerfield Rotary Club members also volunteered their time as they joined the seniors at the following locations - our Kings school buildings, Matthew 25 Ministries, New Life Furniture Bank, Kings Local Food Pantry, Joshua's Place, SPCA Cincinnati, InRETURN, Loveland Canoe and Kayak, Cincinnati Nature Center, 4 Paws For Ability, Gorman Heritage Farm, Tikkun Farm, Carter Park, and more.
Thank you to the Kings High School Community Service advisers, Tracy Goldie and Lynn Brant, and the KHS seniors for their service.

Kings Junior High School implemented a behavioral program six years ago that supports the District's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports Program (PBIS). The program is called P.A.C.T. which stands for Pride, Attitude, Commitment, and Together.
The program supports PBIS by rewarding students for positive attitudes and good behavior. Students receive PACT points when caught doing something positive.
As they do every year, they kicked off this year's program with a PACT Party. Last Friday, the entire school gathered in Kings Stadium for an assembly where they heard from Bob Pautke, President of SOAR with Purpose, a strengths-based leader development company. They had a little fun with Mr. SanMarco doing the Fancy Like Dance and then spent the remainder of the day playing games on the football field and enjoying Kona Ice.
As part of the PACT kick-off party, KJH students were asked to donate goods for Kings Local Food Pantry. They collected 654 items in one day! #KingsStrong

Are You Eligible for Child Tax Credit?
|
|
The Internal Revenue Service is reaching out to America’s school districts to help them spread the word on the 2021 Advance Child Tax Credit payments, which could be up to $1,800 per qualifying child. These payments are made automatically to taxpayers who qualified on their 2020 tax returns.
Their current outreach efforts are focused on low-income families who may not be required to file tax returns. If you are not in their system, they can't help you financially. They have developed a tool that can not only help get these families the advance payments but also help them get missed Economic Impact Payments (EIP). This could amount to over $14,000 for a family of 2 adults and 2 children who may be struggling to make ends meet.

The Annual Kings vs. Loveland PINK game is back for 2021! The game will be held at Loveland on October 8. This long-standing rivalry does so much good to help those in our community that are battling breast or gynecological cancers.
Each year the schools sell PINK game t-shirts to support Pink Ribbon Girls. The money raised provides FREE meals, rides to treatment, house cleaning, and peer support to local cancer patients.
Please help us share the ordering information with your students and families. This year all orders will be online. You can simply click this link to order.
T-shirts are $12 and they will be delivered to the school the week of 10/8.
Please share and let's make this a huge success!
Deadline for placing your order is September 23!

Youth Basketball Registration
|
|
Attention all 2nd - 6th-grade girls and boys interested in playing basketball.
Ending soon! Registration is still happening but not for long! If you have not yet registered your child for the upcoming basketball season you can sign them up on our website (www.kbahoops.org). Click on the registration banner and follow the instructions.
The fee is $170 registration will officially close ‪on 9/15. Please register your child timely if they plan to play this season so you can take advantage of the lower registration fee. Included in the fee again this year will be a full uniform and shooting shirt.
When you are registering you will notice that we once again have a donation section for those that would like to contribute a little extra to our scholarship fund. These funds are used to pay registration fees for children of families that can't afford to pay. Every little bit helps and KBA prides itself on never turning away a kid for financial reasons. Thanks in advance for your generosity and if you are personally in need of a scholarship for your child then please let us know.
A key date that you will need to be aware of for 3rd-6th graders is Saturday, September 18. Assessments will take place‬ at the KJH and KHS that will determine who is invited back for competitive team tryouts. We need everyone to attend if possible - even kids that are planning to just play on a rec team. This allows us to provide feedback to coaches and hopefully split the teams up appropriately.
