Kings COVID-19 Data Reporting Requirement
The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) and Governor DeWine issued a new general health order that provides mandatory requirements for school operations and reporting of COVID-19 data for both parents and school officials.

Below is a snapshot for Kings for this week. This document will be updated weekly and can be found on the Coronavirus page on the Kings website.

Parents or guardians of students, and school staff, are strongly encouraged to provide notice of a positive case diagnosis within 24 hours. Parents should call their student's school building and speak to the building nurse. The Kings School District employs a designated COVID-19 Contact Tracer to monitor quarantines and positive test results. This tracking system will be monitored daily for updated reporting on COVID-19 cases.

Parents are also encouraged to notify the District of testing due to suspected cases of COVID-19, regardless of the result. Efficient contact tracing involves both notification and timing of close contacts with the child or adult who may be considered a suspected case. If your child is tested, please keep them home from school until you receive results.

Please continue to perform a daily health assessment on your student before coming to school. You can utilize this Decision Tree to help decide if you should send your child to school.

We appreciate all of the patience and care shown by our Knight Nation while we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. For more information on safety protocols and our back to school plan please visit our Reopening Plan website resource page.

Social & Emotional Update
Kings Social Emotional Coordinator, Kim Sellers has an important update for parents regarding suicide.

It has come to our attention that a disturbing video showing a suicide in progress is being circulated across social media platforms, primarily TikTok. If possible, please limit your children’s access to social media until companies can remove the video from their platforms.

The video features a middle-aged white man with a beard and glasses sitting at a desk. If you see this, turn off or pause the video IMMEDIATELY. The suicide video can be hidden in the middle of an unrelated video, so it is possible that your child may unwittingly be exposed while exploring the site. It is our recommendation that parents do not bring the video to students’ attention, as it may encourage them to seek it out. Instead, limit or monitor social media access if possible.

If you suspect your child has seen the video or is experiencing the after-effects of exposure to a traumatic event, please contact a mental health specialist for follow-up care. You can contact your child's school counselor or myself to be connected to one of our school based therapists. A full listing of contract care providers is available at the Mental Health Recovery Board Serving Warren & Clinton Counties’ website at www.mhrbwcc.org.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me for any support you may need. You can email me at ksellers@kingslocal.net or call me at 513.398.8050, ext. 10056.
