The Polson Police Department is excited to announce the 2026 launch of its Citizens Police Academy, an immersive program built on the principles of P.A.R.T.N.E.R. — Polson Affirms Responsibility, Transparency, Neighborhood Engagement & Respect. The academy is designed to give community members a firsthand look at modern policing and how officers serve and protect the people of Polson.


Applications are available through the Polson Police Department or on the website at: https://www.cityofpolson.com/media/25551. Applications can also be downloaded at the Polson Police Foundation website at: https://www.polsonpolicefoundation.com/events .

What's Happening at the Library

For the Week of 02/23/2026 News from the

North Lake County Public Library District:


1. Monday, February 23rd at 10:00 a.m.: Touchstones: A Dementia Friendly Program. A dementia friendly program created for individuals living with dementia and caregivers. Each session offers a calm space to enjoy stories and conversation through guided. The month of February will feature games using our Lucynt table.


2. Monday, February 23rd at 2:00 p.m.: Master Gardener Level 1 Class Series. Taught by Patrick Mangan, from the MSU extension office. Soils, botany, ornamentals, vegetables, trees, rodent control, weeds, and IPM. This class will run 8 weeks from February 23rd - April 13th. Registration is required and space is limited. Stop by the front desk to register or call 406-883-8225.


3. Wednesday, February 25th at 4:00 p.m.: Flathead Lake Bio Station Program – All About Plankton. Kelly Minear and The Flathead Lake Biological Station will be presenting a program explaining all about plankton and their role in the lake's food web. You'll have the opportunity to look at plankton through a microscope. Additionally, mysis shrimp and their impact on the food web will be covered.


4. Thursday, February 26th at 4:00 p.m.: Connect @ the Library – Teen Hour. Connect @ the Library is a time just for teens to share ideas, play games, eat snacks, and hang out in the Teen Corner of the Library. Every Thursday at 4 pm!


5. Thursday, February 26th at 6:30 p.m.: The Montana Library Network Virtual Programming presents: Lead Where You Live. Join us for a virtual presentation led by leader Tracy McIntyre. This session is designed for anyone who cares about their community and wants to lead—not by title or loud voice—but by presence, purpose, and participation. 6. Friday, February 27th at 1:00 p.m.: Be A Part Of History – A Round Table Discussion. Calling on all historians, long time locals, and those that love to talk about the 'old days'. The Polson Library is collecting information on the past history of our buildings and businesses of days long ago to create a walking/drive-thru history tour of our town. Coffee will be provided.


7. Friday, February 27th at 4:00 p.m.: Lego Club. Lego Club meets once a month through May. A fun, hands-on program where creativity meets learning. Work on your own builds or collaborate with others while exploring problem-solving, imagination, and STEM skills. Ages 10 & up. All skill levels are welcome. Just bring your ideas and we will bring the bricks!


8. Saturday, February 28th at 11:00 a.m.: Harvest of the Month. Pick up the Beet! Beet roots and their edible leaves are nutritional powerhouses. We will share planting tips, delicious recipes, fun beet facts, and projects that have nothing to do with eating them! Plus, you’ll take home beet seeds to start your own crop.


9. Tuesday, March 3rd at 10:00 a.m.: Memory Café. This is a Dementia Care Partner Program. This program will be held on the first Tuesday of each month. A Memory Cafe is a safe and supportive environment for people living with Dementia, Alzheimer’s, or other forms of memory loss AND their caregivers/family members! 10. Tuesday, March 3rd at 7:00 p.m.: Books Before Bedtime. Books Before Bedtime is a free, virtual story time held once a month, designed to help create a calming bedtime routine, while fostering early literacy in a warm and accessible way. If you did not register for March 3rd for a book box from the Montana State Library, we have a limited number of books available at our Library. Dr. Tammy Elser, Education Director at the Salish Kootenai College will be reading "The Goat and the Stoat and the Boat" by Em Lynas. 12. Friday, March 6th at 4:00 p.m.: Silent Showdown Gaming Event. In the game, two teams must battle by completing challenges, while their teammates have to stay silent. Join us for a fun and family-friendly group challenge game where teams compete to complete playful tasks—while their teammates must stay silent!


Book Your Affection for Library Lover's Month - Adopt-a-Book at the Library: For a $20 donation you may choose a book from our Adopt-a-Book selection and you get to put a personalized message inside! After that - we'll "shelve the love" so everyone can see your love note.


Library Children’s Programs:


Thursdays: 10:00 a.m.: Toddler Time: This program is for 2-3 year olds & it is all about movement.


Thursdays: 2:00 p.m.: Story Time: This program focuses on 3-5 year olds and includes stories & activities for Kindergarten readiness. Watch our website and social posts for theme updates.


· For the week of February 23rd, the Story Time theme will be “Nursery Rhymes & Poetry”.

· For the week of February 16th, the Story Time theme will be “Paper Bag Princess”.


Fridays at 10:00 a.m.: Mother Goose: This is our program for 0-24 month olds and their caregivers.


Saturdays at 10:00 a.m.: Story Time: This program is a repeat of the Thursday theme & focuses on 3-5 year olds. We read stories & have activities for Kindergarten readiness.

Polson Senior Center

The March 3rd Full Moon is named “The Worm Moon”. The geese on the golf course will tell you where the worms are located, and yes, they are on your lawn too. They aerate and fertilize your lawn. Some eat your green leaves too.

We need a volunteer route driver(s) for a few days a week starting April 1st. 11 a.m to 12 p.m. 

 

Get help with your taxes from the AARP Tax Assistance Program on Mondays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. starting Feb. 2nd. You must register for an appointment and fill out an information packet. March appointment times are filling up quickly! No charge. Donations to Sr. Center welcome. Support AARP. They provide computers, fax machines for electronic filing, and a well-trained and experienced staff of licensed tax preparation volunteers to assist you.

KIWANIS Club of Polson: The 3rd Thursday of each month through June at noon. All are welcome.

 

Cribbage (the most popular 2-player card game ever) is organizing starting in March. We welcome all skill levels. Wednesdays, Round Robin format, perhaps. Leave a good phone number.

Bingo: Regular bingo every Friday at 6:00. First Wednesday each month Card Bingo at 6:30.

Pinochle: Thursdays 12:30 (pass 4). Mondays 12:30 (no pass).

Pool: Open table from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Toenail clinic in February. Sign up to reserve a time. $30.

Spinning Wheelers: 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. 11-1p. 208-520-1013.

VSO (Veterans Service Officer:) 1st Friday and 3rd Tuesday of each month. 10a -Noon. Walk-in.

Bridge and Mahjong groups meet regularly at the center.

Bowling fun-league is on Tuesdays at 1:00 at the Sportspage Bowl.

Exercise class (sitting, standing, low impact and video assisted) M-W-F 10:30-11:30.


Our Polson Senior Citizens COMMUNITY Center provides space for individuals and groups to meet for physical and mental health, social and educational purposes. Our Center is available for reserved special events on weekends and evenings.


We are open 8:00 am. – 3:00 p.m. on weekdays, or later by appointment.
