Hello RALLY Friend,

Have you been watching what has been happening in the General Assembly?

Well, we are here to tell you what has been going on.

We are now almost half way through the General Assembly session, and crossover is this coming Wednesday!

BAD BILL ALERT

House Bill 2747, introduced by Delegate Feggins (D) would have allowed gambling machines to go anywhere in the Commonwealth. Yes, anywhere! This includes places like Chuck E Cheese's and other family friendly entertainment venues. Who thought that was a bright idea? Not RALLY VIRGINIA! Leave our kids alone, and don't encourage gambling in spots where families hang out!

And, the fate of the bill? Died in committee! RIP!

GOOD BILL ALERT

Delegate Anne Farrell Tata's legislation in HB 1965 would have eliminated taxes on tips.

Of course the bill didn't even get a hearing in a committee despite the fact that speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates, Delegate Don L. Scott, had stated,"Any idea that is going to put money back into the pocket of hardworking Virginians, we are going to strongly consider and take a look at.”

Sir, whatever happened to taking a look at it?

This was not a partisan issue. No taxes on tips is a common sense, kitchen table issue.

WORDS OF WISDOM FROM SENATOR LOUISE LUCAS...?? REALLY??

The other most powerful Democrat in the General Assembly, Senator Louise Lucas, head of the Senate Finance and Appropriations Committee said, “People are talking about getting rid of the car tax and getting rid of the tax on tips. All that's popular and I agree with my constituents on it, but the rich need to pay their fair share. “

Well, with all do respect Senator, we don't know any "rich" Virginians who seek full-time work in the service industry where their main source of income is tips.

Well, that's it for insights for now, but be sure to sign up for our latest updates from the General Assembly with the link below.
