Enjoy quality time with one of our sweet ponies. For 45 minutes, participants will learn the basics of riding, play games, and groom their beloved pony!

Each rider is assisted by two side walkers (parents/guardians or anyone age 13 or older). One side walker will lead the pony, while the other walks alongside the participant. If the group is able, one lesson will be a trail ride.

Class limited to six participants. Two side walkers are required. Lockwood can provide them for an additional fee (paid in advance), if needed. Call for pricing.

It takes courage to step your foot into a stirrup and swing your leg over a horse’s back for the first time.

Riders will learn character development and basic riding skills including: leading, mounting and dismounting, walking, stopping, steering, and maintaining proper spacing through interactive patterns and games.

These basic skills are the foundation on which all upper level lessons build.

Compassion for ourselves and others helps us and our horses perform the best, and build positive connections!

Riders will learn character development and continue to improve their horsemanship skills. Riders will work on mastering basic control, learn the extended walk, and will be introduced to both a posting and sitting trot with assistance.

Pre-requisite: Successful completion of Level 1: Beginner, or call for a skill placement test.

Ages: 7+

Dates: May 5-26, 2021

Integrity means being honest and consistent, which is crucial to developing proper equitation skills.

Riders will learn character development, gain greater speed control at the trot and smoother transitions between gaits, learn posting trot diagonals, leg aids for steering, and improve their riding posture. Increased physical skill and concentration are necessary for this level.

Pre-requisite: Successful completion of Level 2: Advanced-Beginner, or call for a skill placement test.

Take your riding adventure to the trails in the scenic woods of Lockwood Park and Anna Page Park. Learn trail ride safety, etiquette, and do’s and don'ts of riding while learning to read your horse’s body language and assess your surroundings.
