Infrastructure & Reconciliation Update/Action Alert
As House and Senate Democrats work to assemble their partisan tax and spending bill, the Build Back Better Act, ABC continues to oppose this destructive partisan process and the tax increases and restrictive labor policies included in the proposal.
ABC President and CEO Michael Bellaman recently discussed the latest developments on the infrastructure and reconciliation deal and the dangerous tax hikes and costly labor policies that have been proposed and how they will affect ABC members and their bottom line.
As Democrats in the House and Senate have been unable to come to an agreement on their partisan tax and spending reconciliation package, the House seems poised to move forward with a vote that can gain support from at least 218 of their members to move the process along and allow the Senate to scrub the bill over the coming weeks in order to reach a final deal with Senate Democrats and the White House.
At this time, there are talks of having a vote as soon as Friday, though more time will likely be needed. There is potential for a weekend vote or a vote, once the House returns from next week’s recess, to approve the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the House version of the reckless tax and spending bill.
Passing the IIJA will allow the bill to be signed into law by President Biden and provide a substantial bipartisan win for the administration and members of Congress.
