SWITCH Festival May 1!!

rea families made their way to The East Mills Elementary and SWITCH Center on Wednesday, May 1, to drive robots, practice CPR, and even drive semi-simulators at the Southwest Iowa Technocly Career Hub (Swithc Center) STEM Festival.  This free event, which took place from 5:00-7:00 PM, offered kindergarten through 12^th-grade students a unique opportunity to explore the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through hands-on experiments and activities provided. The 24 exhibitors included Midwest Labs, Greenhills AEA, Mills County Conservation, and Mills County Iowa State Extension and Outreach, as well as many other Iowa STEM-related organizations.

The SWITCH Center STEM Festival was organized specifically for families from the school districts of East Mils, Glenwood, Femont Mills, Sidney, and Stanton. Over 75 individuals attended this event.

The Switch STEM Festival is a collaborative partnership between the SWITC Center, many partnering businesses and school districts, the SWITCH Center services, the Southwest Iowa STEM Hub, and the Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council.

Guthrie Center Elementary's Making STEM Connections Day

Guthrie Center Elementary participated in its annual Making STEM Connections Day on Monday, May 20, 2024, to learn about all things STEM, which took place from 8:30-12:00 PM. 

Twenty-one local businesses and organizations offered Guthrie Center Elementary’s 250 preschool to 6th-grade students a unique opportunity to explore the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through hands-on experiments and activities.
