Meet New Partners and

Teammates!

Powhatan-based RAMS Petroleum

Teams Up with Habitat for the First Time

Next Friday, Aug. 30, a group of eight from Powhatan-based RAMS Petroleum will join us the first time at a house build site β€” an opportunity that is part of their NEW presenting sponsorship of our Habitat Build Bash Nov. 9. We are "pumped" that they have jumped aboard with head, heart and hand, and we look forward to working with RAMS throughout the end of summer and into the fall.

Keep reading and meeting more folks below!

(P.S. Tickets for the Build Bash will go on sale mid-September.)

Meet Partner Homeowner Rachel Tomlin

We are in the homestretch of our first Women Build, which is also our first whole-house renovation. Learn a little about Rachel and her family in this video! And we thank all the teams who have come out since mid-April to assist with this transformation!

ReStore On the Hunt

for New Site Come Summer 2025

While it's business as usual at 1922 Urbine Road, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 10 to 4, through June 30, 2025, we need to find a new ReStore location by summer 2025. Learn why and how you may be able to help us here. And thanks to everyone who celebrated National Thrift Store Day with us Sat., Aug. 17, and took advantage of our 50 percent off sale β€” just in time for the start of school.

Meet Family Outreach Coordinator

Christy Whitver

State licensed mortgage loan officer Christy Whitver joined Habitat-Powhatan at the end of June, hitting the ground running for those families with which we partner. Christy came to us from Guild Mortgage and is proficient in all mortgage types including conventional, FHA, VA and USDA. She also is very familiar with Virginia Housing and with grants for first-time home buyers. She is married to Rob Whitver, a veteran. The couple has four children β€” two grown boys, ages 23 and 21. Their son Benjamin is a junior at Powhatan High School, where he plays varsity football and dabbles in basketball and track. Their daughter, lmani, is a freshman at Powhatan, where she will play varsity volleyball.

Finally, We Could Use A Hand!

This coming weekend and next, we have a number of projects to accomplish at our current home build site in the eastern part of the county (installing James Hardie siding, interior trim work and painting to do). If you are free and have some carpentry skills, please email mckayalar@habitatpowhtan.org for details. Thank you!
