KEEP YOUR FREIGHT MOVING
New Paint Schemes for Bachmann's HO Scale 40' Boxcar
Boxcars are the workhorses of the railroad, economically moving dry goods and bulk freight from coast to coast, and from factories to distributors everywhere in between. From the early to mid-20th century, the 40' Boxcar was the standard size offered by most major railcar manufacturers. Used for hauling both long-distance bulk shipments and smaller mixed loads for local deliveries, the type remains one of the most iconic freight cars in American history. Bachmann's HO Scale 40' Boxcar is based on the Pullman Standard PS-1 design, and features opening sliding doors, a separately applied brake wheel, E-Z Mate® Mark II knuckle couplers, and nickel silver wheels with RP25 contours.

40' Santa Fe Map Boxcars
In 1940, the Santa Fe Railway began painting freight cars as rolling advertisements. Refrigerator cars, boxcars, and auto carriers were decorated with a system map on one side and the branding for some of the railroad's named passenger trains on the other. Bachmann is pleased to present the 40' Boxcar in ATSF map schemes with operating sliding doors, prototypical graphics, metal wheels, and E-Z Mate® Mark II couplers.
