POLST Legislation Introduced at the Capitol

This week, Senator Gene Yaw (R-23rd District) introduced Senate Bill 631 for the codification of Pennsylvania Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment (POLST) to be used by medical professionals across all health care settings for patients who voluntarily wish to execute a POLST order. Read More.


PAMED has supported previous legislative proposals on POLST and applauds Senator Yaw for introducing this most recent proposal. Contact your legislator to support Senate Bill 631.

Did you know? When legislators meet with constituents it is not unusual for them to confirm ahead of time that you live in their legislative district. Some lawmakers take the time to check to see if you’re a registered voter and whether you vote regularly. All legislators want to be responsive to the concerns of their constituents.  However, an individual’s voice is amplified when they are a consistent voter. Please be sure to vote!

HHS OCR providing 90-day transition period upon expiration of PHE for Telehealth related HIPAA compliance

On April 11, the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Civil Rights announced that they will be providing a 90-day transition period to allow healthcare providers to work on making their telehealth services HIPAA compliant.

PAMED submits comments on proposed FTC non-compete clause ban

PAMED submitted comments to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) concerning the Commission’s proposed new rule that would institute a nationwide ban on the use of non-compete provisions (non-competes) in most employer-employee contracts. While PAMED opposes the use of non-competes, after reviewing the proposal and considering its implications, PAMED commented in opposition to adoption of the rule.
