Honoring Identity in the Classroom: Students Embrace Their Food Story

As part of the Northeast Farm to School Collaborative, we're uncovering adaptations of the popular Harvest of the Month resources that use a culturally sustaining approach. Hear Aziza Malik, elementary educator and Vermont 2024 Teacher of the Year, tell her food story and how a cup of chai led to a community-wide project.

Northeast Farm to School Institute team Spaulding Education Alternatives School and the Vermont Farm to School & Early Childhood Network hosted state leaders to showcase the positive impacts of connecting teens with local farmers and producers, elevating student voice in the cafeteria, and supporting hands-on food systems learning opportunities.

We're excited to open applications for the 2024-25 Northeast Farm to School Institute and the Farm to School Institute Adaptation Program in the coming weeks. Both year-long programs kick off the week of June 24, 2024 at Shelburne Farms. We hope you'll form a team and apply, and share the opportunity with your colleagues!
