January 2020
Welcome To BROC Monthly Newsletter
BROC is a rescue supported by dedicated volunteers and generous donors. We started off the new year with 20-20 vision as we continued to work toward our goal of caring for and placing senior dogs in warm, loving homes. With our shared love of four legged fluffs, we will continue throughout the year to do our best for the dogs and the generous BROC supporters who make it all possible. Thank YOU!
Celebrating The First Adoption of 2020
Chip Leads The Way in 2020
After more than 5 months of loving care by his foster mom, Linda, Chip has finally found his forever family. Linda nursed him through the major surgery on his jaw and mouth and now he is a healthy and happy guy.

Chip is now being loved and spoiled by his new Mom and Dad, Angie and Bob. It was love at first sight for all three of them.

Thank you to our faithful BROC Donors who helped to make this happy ending a reality.

A Note From Our Founder
A Heartfelt Message
We receive adoption applications from so many individuals who have just lost their pup - their long-time companion and friend of nine or ten - even 15 years. Too often the loss is so fresh, so overwhelming that they are desperate to fill the hole in their heart. As part of a senior rescue and senior owners, we here at BROC know the feeling all too well.

Sadly, the search for a new pup painfully drives home the fact that you cannot replace the one you lost. Although watching the decline of your old friend and constant companion was painful, please consider adopting a young senior - 7, 8 or 9. Many times they will match your expectations far better than a young pup. Would you trade the pain of your loss for even one day for the years of love and devotion your senior companion gave to you?

You can adopt a senior bichon from other rescues but no one offers the level of health care and treatment provided routinely by BROC. When you adopt from BROC, you know the everything about the medical condition of your new pup because we have spent the time and money to learn everything possible about the medical condition of your new pup. You are a partner and integral part of the future health and placement of this special pup.

Maybe you do not feel ready to adopt. Would you consider fostering one of our seniors? Filling their daily needs as we restore their health will fill the emptiness in your home and your heart and help a homeless pup feel safe again. Perhaps you'll find your new partner in the process. As you know, we provide everything you need - you provide the love.

If you cannot foster at this time, but would like to help us continue providing medical attention for any of our pups, please donate....

Health Tip of The Month
Our new Social Media Manager recently posted a great article about the importance of clean water for our pets. Along with nutritious food, exercise and shelter, our pets need clean, uncontaminated water to thrive.

Juliana discusses the benefits and certain dangers that might affect our pets. You can read her article on our Facebook page.
February Is Pet Dental Month

Bichon Rescue of Orange County California is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of neglected, abused, or otherwise homeless senior Bichon Frises, bichon mixes and other small non-shedding breeds, placing them into permanent, stable, and caring forever homes.

We believe in the value of our senior citizens as adopters as well as fosters and are committed to their advocacy and support through our “Seniors for Seniors” focus.

We believe in promoting awareness of the need to spay and neuter pets, and of the importance of proper medical, dental and nutritional care.

We believe in cultivating a volunteer spirit in our youth and educating them about the importance of pet advocacy.
Senior Dogs:
We believe senior dogs contribute positively to our quality of life and have much to teach us about patience, respect, responsibility, loyalty and unconditional love.

We believe every senior dog deserves to live out their golden years, months, weeks or even days in a place of love, security and peace.

We believe dogs are not a disposable commodity; rather, they depend on us to care for them through all stages of their lives.

We believe in providing educational support, advocacy, and sharing of best practices for those who support senior dogs.
