Our Mission Statement

We of Joy Lutheran Church foster
grace-filled relationships with Christ
through worship, fellowship, and service.
Notes of Joy - Week of August 16, 2020
This Week's Gospel: Matthew 15:[10-20] 21-28
In Isaiah we hear that God’s house shall be a house of prayer for all people and that God will gather the outcasts of Israel. The Canaanite woman in today’s gospel is a Gentile, an outsider, who is unflinching in her request that Jesus heal her daughter. As Jesus commends her bold faith, how might our church extend its mission to those on the margins of society? In our gathering around word and meal we receive strength to be signs of comfort, healing, and justice for those in need.
No In-person Worship During August

Our Sunday worship will be available on Facebook beginning at 9:30am.

You can still view our Facebook page, even if you do not have a Facebook account. Click the link above. (Ignore the bar at the bottom when it opens asking you to sign-in or create an account. You are still able to scroll down through our page. You need to click "not now" on the pop-up page when it again asks you to sign up, then it will go away - - hope that helps!!) :-)
Sound System is Now Improved!

  • Try it!
  • Let us know how it works for you!
Henry Huntington
Our own Henry Huntington is featured in this month's issue of "Living Lutheran" magazine! Congratulations!

"I believe that we need to work together if we want the world to be a better place. Among other things, this means understanding and respecting those who have different views than ours." ....
Pastor on Vacation
Pastor Karen will be on vacation Aug. 10 - Sept. 4, 2020. In case of emergency, please call the Church office (694-9601), or any of the Church Council members (see listed on bottom of each "Notes of Joy"), who will then reach a pastor willing to help.

Do not hesitate to call, as Pastor Karen has lined up backup coverage from several pastors.
Children’s Ministry!
  • Watch your mail for a VBS Survey
  • Please fill it out and return
  • It will have a direct effect on potential Sunday School this Fall!

Thank you!
Children's Bible Stories on Amazon Prime
Did you know that if you (or your parents) have Amazon Prime, you can watch episodes of Whirl for free?

Whirl is a Bible-based cartoon series. In each episode the kids tackle a different theme central to Christian values. And while the issues dealt with are relatable, the solutions these kooky characters find are mostly... unconventional. Kids of all ages will be laughing while they're learning!

The Joy of Reading Book Club meets the 3rd Monday of every month and gets started around 6:30 PM. Even if you haven’t read the book of the month you are still welcome to join us. It’s a fun evening of discussion, sharing of ideas and respectful listening. And lots of socializing and laughter!
Our August book is The Second Mountain: The Quest for a Moral Life by David Brooks.  Sue Weimer will be hosting this on Monday, August 17.  She is planning for it to be outside with plenty of social distancing!
