We've all heard it said that voting is our civic duty, although many save our voting efforts for the big primaries. BUT, did you know that voting during midterms can be more important and create opportunity for bigger change? While presidential and other national elections usually have more significant voter turnout, local elections are typically decided by a much smaller group of voters, which means your vote counts holds even more weight!
Issues and policies that impact not only our communities, but the nation as a whole, start at the local level, making the representatives and legislation that is voted on a very important foundation for our future. Less than 15% of eligible voters turn out to vote for mayors, council members, and other local offices...imagine the impact we can make if those numbers increased. Be sure you make your way to the polls if you didn't already mail in your ballot and get your voice heard!
