"Creating with Dyes and Paint on Silk/Textiles"
With Mindy Faubion
Wednesday, November 3
VAST Meetings take place at the (PAAC)
Patterson-Appleton Arts Center
400 E. Hickory St., Denton, TX
November 3, 6:45-8:30pm
The presentation is free for VAST Members, and $5 for guests.

You are invited to attend our monthly VAST meeting on Nov 3rd, 2021 at 6:45 pm. This month we welcome artist and VAST member Mindy Faubion, to be our speaker for the evening. Mindy will be presenting information on using dyes, paints and other mediums and the textiles that are most suited for their application. Her demonstration will include how to use the various dyes, paints and mediums to textiles (mainly silk) on stretched fabric. Attendees will be able to try out some techniques or sample scarves. You can also take a chance to win the demonstration scarf that Mindy paints for $5.00. All proceeds will go toward an award during the 175 Mile Exhibit.

Mindy is a watercolor and pastel artist who loves to stretch herself in different mediums. She loves fibers and textures and also makes unique clay items with intricate designs. "My art is more than a reproduction of what I photograph or see. It makes visible the art in nature and in us. I enjoy detail, realistic imagery, and lots of color. I use watercolor and pastels to paint macro images that magnify the variety of shapes, colors, lines and textures that are found in nature along with our unique and colorful nature as individuals."

You can attend the meeting at the Patterson-Appleton Center for the Visual Arts, located at 400 E Hickory, Denton, Texas or view the program on Facebook live on the Visual Arts Society of Texas facebook page.

*Note to attendees: The PAAC will have socially distanced seating and they require that you wear a face covering. If you cannot attend in person, the meeting will be streamed on the VAST’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Visual-Arts-Society-of-Texas-155238136675
