OCTOBER NEWSLETTER | 2023

Dear friends throughout the Synod of Lincoln Trails,

Here are a few things to be prayerful and mindful of this month:

Synod Executive Sara Dingman is on a two-month sabbatical. Let's pray together that Sara experiences:

Two months of rest.

Two months of experiencing God's grace day by day.

Two months of God's blessing at every step.

Two months of refreshed spirit, renewed mind, and energized body.

We have some exciting things happening in the synod this month. We've just announced new Oasis grants β€” meant to nourish the bodies and souls of pastors in active ministry. We want you to use these funds to do something fun β€” instead of taking a class in church finances, take an art class, learn to play the ukulele, or get some gear and go camping! Pastors, what would spark joy in your life right now? Apply for that!

SOLT welcomes new leadership to the presbytery! Rev. Dr. Erin McGee will be moving to Whitewater Valley Presbytery to serve as the Transitional Lead Presbyter. Rev. Ann Schwartz started her role as Lead Presbyter in the Presbytery of Great Rivers this summer - read an interview with her in this issue.

Blessings to you this month. May you witness the Creator's beauty in the cooler temperatures and changing colors of fall and experience the grace of Christ and the gifts of the Spirit today. Please reach out if you have news or ideas to share - or if the synod can support you in the good work you are doing.

Grace + peace,

Jana Blazek

Director of Connectional Relationships

Meet Rev. Ann Schwartz

We’re getting to know presbytery leaders from around the synod. This month, meet Rev. Ann Schwartz from the Presbytery of Great Rivers. She started her role in the presbytery in June β€” but she has served within the Synod of Lincoln Trails for all 24 years of her ministry!
