Meet Sparky: Your Battery Disposal Buddy!

You may have seen him around, now it’s time to officially say hello. Sparky is our battery-boosting buddy here to help us safely and responsibly dispose of batteries across the metro. Keep an eye out because he’s just getting started.

Since April, Sparky and the Metro Waste Authority team have collected more than 3,500 pounds of batteries at drop-off sites across the metro! Every battery dropped off brings us one step closer to a cleaner, safer community.

Batteries are hiding in lots of unexpected places! Not sure if something has a battery? If it buzzes, hums, flashes, or charges, it’s got a battery — and it shouldn’t go in the regular trash or recycling bin.
