It's that time of year again, Amplify Austin Day (AAD), which is really somewhat of a misnomer since over 700 nonprofits that are located all over Central Texas participate.
This is the day of sweeping local generosity to celebrate and support Central Texas nonprofits that make this world a better place for us all. PLUS, Your Gift Made on Amplify Austin Day will be matched by generous sponsors and go further to support local causes. The key to a nonprofit's success is their Fundraising Champions - those supporters who create their own fundraising page under the main nonprofit page, who then tell their network about their supported cause. There's still time for you to Fundraise With Us and get the word out to your network of friends and family! Not only are there matching grants, but the "I Live Here I Give Here" (ILHIGH) nonprofit that Hosts AAD awards prizes for various categories.
Last year's AAD donations plus matching grants totaled 15% of our entire 2021 budget! After just two months, 2022 already is showing promise of training and adopting even more dogs along with scholarships for paroled inmates. That means more vet bills, dog food, heartworm prevention and training expenses. Hopefully, that also results in more scholarships awarded to paroled inmates who want additional training in the animal welfare industry! Our expenses never stop so the need for your support is more vital than ever to help "save more than dogs."
Why the big push for Amplify Austin Day over other fundraisers? MATCHING GRANTS! ILHIGH takes a small additional fee from each donation to provide not only prizes to the registered nonprofits but also gives matching grants to them on a pro-rata basis (i.e., the more donations received the larger the matching grant amount). They also provide opportunities to corporations and individuals to provide their own matching grants, awarded at the conclusion of AAD. Below are the current matches available to Friends of Paws in Prison as of the date of this email. Special thanks to A-A-A Storage for sponsoring an exclusive Friends of Paws in Prison match with a running total of how much is still left of available matching dollars.
Help us win a $1,000 hourly prize! To win, we need to have the most individual donors to our nonprofit during that hour, regardless of the amount donated. And every dollar is being matched by A-A-A Storage up to the $5,000 total matching amount! So set your alarms and go to our Amplify Austin page between 6 am - 7 am on Thursday, March 3!

Watch this 1-minute video of beautiful and smart Braidee! She is ready for her forever home! Fill out an Adoption Application today!

This precious girl is Braidee, and she has been in prison way too long. Why you might ask? Braidee is full of love but also lots of energy. She would be the perfect dog for someone who wants a buddy to enjoy hiking, jogging, frisbee throwing, and cuddling. Keep in mind though that she weighs 61 lbs! She needs space to run and play. But you can best learn more about Braidee from the inmate who trained her. Below is the letter she wrote thanking the Friends of Paws in Prison board members for paying Braidee's vet bill when she had a benign growth removed from her leg.

Heads up to you newsletter subscribers - there are new dogs in prison now that the inmates have begun to care for and train. Stay tuned to the website for details as they become available.

4. Sprout - the star of Puppy Bowl!
Sprout scored 2 touchdowns for the Black Team on Saturday, Feb 12 for a tie game with the Red Team in the 2022 Puppy Bowl held in Austin, Tx.
This is 1-year-old Sprout, adopted from Paws in Prison by a couple last September. Sprout came into the Lockhart prison with his brother, Brussel, after they were found roaming the streets as 5-month-old puppies. Both puppies have happily settled into their new homes thanks to the love and training provided by the Lockhart Ladies in Paws in Prison.
Sprout loves to run, play with other dogs, and cuddle. After additional impulse control training, he no longer jumps up on people in his excitement to greet them. He closes his eyes in ecstasy when you scratch behind his ears. He is just a happy dog - he literally bounces when he jogs around the yard with a squeaky toy in his mouth!
Sprout is also the best friend to Tater, another Paws dog adopted 2 years ago. These two dogs fill their human parents' home with love and laughter.
