Connect • Learn • Play • Belong®
| |
This week, our chapter faced the sorrow of the passing of two members, Lorraine Hendrickson and Cheri Hertel. As a community united by our passion for golf, we not only share the game but also cultivate enduring friendships that transcend the sport itself. In moments like these, we are reminded that our connection goes far beyond the scores and shots on the course; it embodies a deeper sense of camaraderie and support among us all.
MORE THAN GOLF!
| | | | Summer Heat and Safe Golf | |
How to play golf in extreme heat.
Golfing in South Florida during the summer months presents a unique set of advantages and challenges that require careful consideration to ensure an enjoyable experience. To maximize enjoyment, golfers should schedule tee times during the cooler parts of the day, stay hydrated, wear appropriate sun protection, and take regular breaks to mitigate fatigue. Adopting these smart strategies allows you to appreciate summer golfing while maintaining your well-being fully.
| |
- Monitor your well-being - Be aware of the signs of heat-related illnesses:
- Heat stroke symptoms include a very high body temperature (above 103°F), red, hot, dry skin with no sweating, rapid heartbeat, throbbing headache, dizziness, and nausea.
-
Heat exhaustion - less severe but serious, symptoms like nausea, vomiting, lightheadedness, muscle cramps, headache, rapid heartbeat, and shallow breathing.
|
What to do if your Golf partner shows signs of heat-related illness?
If a heat stroke is suspected, call 911 immediately and start cooling your partner steadily. Also, take the following steps:
- Move the person to a cooler place.
- Use cold compresses to get their temperature down.
- Do not give fluids.
- Lay the person down and raise their legs and feet slightly.
- Remove tight or heavy clothing.
- Monitor the person carefully.

Why amy I not getting email notifications? Why are they suppressed?
A few members have reported that they are not receiving the emails from Golf Genius, so we wanted to share this information on how this may occur:
- When dealing with mass emails, the restrictions from the recipient's email provider become more strict.
- Due to this, some email addresses get flagged and placed on the suppression list.
-
We recommend that you add noreply@golfgenius.com to your safe sender or contact list. This will help prevent suppressions from occurring in the future.
