​Piedmont Educator Selected as State Peer Reviewer for Literacy Grants

PIEDMONT, OKLA. (February 26, 2025) — The Oklahoma State Department of Education has selected Amy Bixler as a peer reviewer for literacy grant applications, recognizing her expertise in reading instruction. Selection for this role was based on high levels of specialist literacy knowledge and proven success in improving reading achievement.


Amy Bixler is among an elite group of educators in the state who meet the rigorous qualifications, which include:



  • IDA-accredited professional development in reading
  • An advanced degree in reading
  • Experience as a trained peer reviewer for state or federal literacy applications
  • Over five years of training educators in evidence-based reading instruction
  • A track record of significantly increasing reading achievement


Having dedicated many years to teaching, training, and leading literacy efforts in Piedmont, Bixler’s selection underscores the high caliber of educators in the district. Her expertise places her among the most highly qualified reading specialists in Oklahoma.
