CPP received a call Sunday early afternoon from our member Power Plus Rentals informing us that their Atlas Copco 125kv generator had been stolen from their customer's job earlier that morning. The unit was GPS equipped and had landed at a location in Palmdale.
While waiting for the report to be filed, the unit was relocated to an address in Acton. CPP's usual contacts were unavailable (due to the fires in the Los Angeles area) so attempts were made to find others willing and available to help with not only getting the report filed, but with tracking and hopefully recovering the unit.
Working with an auto theft officer at CHP Newhall, the unit was located and preparations were made to serve a warrant on the property in Acton where the unit was located.
Late Monday evening, however, the unit was once again on the move and heading south where it temporarily landed at a Park and Ride in Santa Clarita.
CPP reached out again to the officer with CHP Newhall for guidance and help. They contacted an officer in that area who was able to locate the unit. The officers on scene made contact with the two individuals in possession of the equipment and recovered the generator.
Two individuals were arrested at the time of the recovery.
THANK YOU to all of the officers who assisted with this recovery!
