5 Tips for a Healthy Vacation
We all love going on adventures every year, spending time in the sun, and indulging in all the treats and sweets you can get ahold of. That is fine sometimes, but it is important take extra precautions when you are outside!
It's summertime and that means outdoor activities! Keep your bicycle riding smoothly all summer long with these bike care tips.
Sweet treats during the summer are one of the best ways to cool off. But with heat comes melting, which can turn into stains! Learn the best ways to get them out and not ruin your summer style.
Lawn & Garden
Learn, Share, Grow!
If you like to learn, share information, and grow, then the Extension Master Gardener program is right for you. We are accepting applications for the Class of 2022. EMGs attend training classes, share gardening information with the public, and grow both personally and in the garden. Check out what it takes to join this fun and active group. You might also make a new friend or two! Application accepted through July 15.
Do you ever have questions about why your plant developed spots, failed to bloom, or just not sure why it doesn’t look right? If you have been in this quandary, then Extension has friendly and knowledgeable people to help. Our Gardening Hotline has your back. Call 913-715-7050 or email
Yuck, gross, and several other choice words are used to describe Japanese Beetles. They are making their yearly appearance. What can you do? Tolerate, treat, or complain? See what might work best for you.
“I water my lawn three times a week for 10 minutes. Am I watering enough or too much?” This is a frequent question received on the Garden Hotline. This information doesn’t provide what we need to know for proper watering. The first step is knowing how much water is applied. Learn the steps for a healthy lawn with the soak-and-cycle method of lawn watering.
The Garden is blooming and we want to take this as an opportunity to share! Stop by the WIC Garden on July 15th for some produce, garden tour, and recipe testing with freshly picked vegetables! We can't wait to see you there!
