Rise Up!
By Karla Maxwell
I never watched a game of NBA basketball in my life, but the tragic death of Kobe Bryant really hit home for some reason. An astonishing athlete, a family man who "had it all"... his life along with eight others ended on earth instantly . This man of great fortune will no longer be seen with a human eye, yet his spirit lives on, and one day, just as the rest of us, he will be seen before his Creator. All his fame, fortune, and success are now worthless. Kobe Bryant just like all of us will bow down and acknowledge Jesus Christ is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Every Christian, Atheist, Muslim, Jew, every confused soul that walked the planet WILL know that HE IS LORD. He IS The Great I AM. Yes, every knee will bow, but those who did not surrender their life to Christ and make Him Lord of their life while on earth will be cast into the pit of Hell, not because God did not love them, but because He cannot look at sin and they chose to reject Him.

That day of reckoning is fast approaching. We are at the end of the End Times. Things are ramping up; the stage is being set. Look around you; wars, rumors of wars, violence everywhere, political mayhem, what use to be called evil is now good and what use to be good is now evil; the earth is groaning with natural disasters-- Australia was on fire, strong earthquakes all over the world, volcanoes erupting; physical viral epidemic outbreaks. The enemy is out to destroy mankind because he knows his time of reign is coming to an end.

I say all this not to cause fear, but rather urgency. Urgency for the lost. Urgency for Christians to stand up and do what we are supposed to do. Do you know someone that needs Jesus? Or ever come across a stranger that needs Jesus? A few days ago, a friend was telling me how he was sitting at a business conference dinner the week before. He was having a pleasant conversation with a woman sitting next to him whom he had never met when suddenly he heard the Holy Spirit tell him, "Ask her if she knows Jesus"-- just out of the blue ask her. There was no mention of church or religion of any kind in their conversation. So, he asked her, "Do you know Jesus?", and everyone at the table stopped what they were doing with mouths open and eyes popping out. The lady was from England and her response was, "No, we don't ever talk about that in England because we don't want to offend the Muslims, but I would like to know Him." WOW! That is beyond exciting! And not only did my friend lead this lady to the Lord right there at the dinner table, a man later that evening approached him and asked to accept Christ as well! Double WOW! My friend stepped out in faith and obeyed what the Lord said to do. My friend may not see wealth and fortune here on earth by the world's standards, but his Heavenly reward will far exceed any amount of fame, fortune, and "Kobe Bryant" success the world can offer.

I urge you, do not keep neglecting to talk to people about Christ any longer. It is time, Followers of Christ! RISE UP! We have been redeemed by the blood of the Sacrificial Lamb! We have been raised from the dead! The Lord has given us a gift of salvation, a gift of eternal life to share with the world! Ask the Lord for opportunities to share about Him and He will make it happen... and do not lose that opportunity, Karla (speaking to myself), by letting fear step in masked as excuses. Instead, make this day the starting point of living a completely Spirit-led life. Surrender each day to the Lord. When we are completely led by our Holy Spirit, there is no stopping us! Listen for His voice. Study His Word. Pray for boldness. And thank Him for the opportunities to share His love even before you see the opportunities.

Pick something you want or need to fast from for 40 days and pray for the retreat, the speakers, ladies attending, for lives to be changed, ask the angels to guard the gate and make the way straight for all who want to attend to do so. What To Do Other Than Just Saying, "I'll Pray For You"
Ideas from the blog of Tshanina Peterson

How many times have you told someone you will pray for them, only to let it slip your mind? We have all been there. Here are a few ideas to help us follow through with our words.

Pray via Email/Text
It may sound odd, but some of the sweetest prayers I’ve prayed over people have been via email or text. Quite often when someone asks me to pray for them, I feel the Holy Spirit prompt me to write out a prayer right then and there.

Stop and Pray
When you’re talking with someone and you don’t have the words to say, don’t be afraid to stop and pray with them then and there. There is no greater comfort for someone going through a hard time than to actually hear the words being prayed over them. It brings instant comfort and peace to them.

Make a Prayer List
A prayer list is a wonderful way for me to be intentional about praying for people. When someone asks me to pray for them, I’ll add it to my list so that I won’t forget. I put this list in my Bible so I’ll have it when I’m doing my morning devotions.

Add It To Your To-Do List
I know this one sounds funny, but this one has helped me. There are family/friends in my life that I want to be intentional about praying for. Every couple of weeks, I’ll contact them and ask how I can best pray for them.

Some of these suggestions can be awkward, but once you get in the habit of doing them, they’ll become second-nature.

When I know someone’s praying for me, it’s a huge blessing. You never know what a difference your prayers will make in someone else’s life!
