AUGUST 2025

The Eyes of Texasand the NationAre Upon Austin

President Trump’s call for Congressional redistricting in Texas has turned into a grandstanding opportunity for Texas leadership and a gaslighting frenzy for the Democrats.

In Special Session #1 of the 89th Legislative Session, Texas Democrats fled to Democrat-run states to prevent a vote on redrawn Congressional maps that would better represent voters who delivered a decisive victory to President Trump and Republicans in the 2024 General Election.

Dustin Burrows, who was elected as House Speaker by a coalition of Democrats and a minority group of “Republicans,” talked tough when the Democrats skipped town, but not a single Democrat has been arrested, fined, or has even lost a committee chairmanship for abandoning their seats, fundraising along the way.

The Texas Constitution and House Rules make it clear that holding the Democrats accountable is entirely up to Speaker Burrows. However, given his reliance on Democratic support for re-election as Speaker, he is unlikely to take further action despite his bold posturing and strong rhetoric.

On Monday, August 18, the Texas House achieved a quorum for the first time in two weeks after enough runaway Democrats returned from their quorum break.

Here are a few of the items at stake:

  • Property tax relief
  • Flood relief
  • Congressional redistricting
  • Over-the-Counter Ivermectin
  • Protecting unborn children
  • Banning taxpayer-funded lobbying
  • Protecting women’s spaces
  • The Attorney General’s election powers

Texas is the front line. If the Republican Establishment can get away with dropping the Legislative ball and blaming the Democrats in Texas, they’ll get away with it throughout our great nation. Let's Unite as Conservatives to Deliver What Texans Want!

by Republican County Chair, Gwen Withrow

Wow, it is such a privilege to live in Montgomery County. Last week, I was excited to attend the East Montgomery County Republican Women's monthly meeting, a luncheon hosted by Congressman Morgan Luttrell, the Montgomery County GOP Steering Committee, and State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) meetings.

I encourage you to visit the calendar and the Get Involved page on our website to find out more about the party and other great conservative organizations in Montgomery County.

Now is the time to unite as conservatives. Mark 3:25 reads, “And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.” There are some who make their living on the destructive nature of division among us. Let us choose to move forward together to achieve what a majority of Texans want – conservative leadership.

The Old Guard's Predictable Playbook

With President Trump winning a $15 million settlement from ABC News and filing a $10 billion lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal, the days of making wild, defamatory claims without accountability are numbered. That’s true here in Montgomery County as well.

The Looming Threat of Political Islam in Texas

by MerryLynn Gertenschlager, Eagle Forum National Security Issues Chairman

When videos began to surface in late 2024 about a 402-acre planned community in Josephine, Texas, about 40 miles northeast of Dallas, called EPIC City, many Texans finally began paying attention to the growing Muslim population in our state. The concern is not with the emotional aspect of Islam, such as one's affable neighbor or colleague at work, but with the conflict between political Islam and our Constitution, and the silence of our legislators who are not addressing the threat.
