Upcoming Elections - Your Vote Is Your Voice
|
|
Two elections will be held this year. The first, on Saturday, May 6, will focus on local city, school, and MUD elections. This will be a consolidated election, which means that voting precincts may be combined on Election Day. Not all precincts will have a ballot due to the limited scope of this election.
The second election will be held on Tuesday, November 7, and will focus on local, state, and federal issues. The Montgomery County Republican Party encourages all registered voters to participate in the election process because every election directly impacts our daily lives.
May 6 Election
The upcoming May 6 election will determine your representation on local boards and councils that decide how much tax to collect and how that money will be spent. Those elected will make decisions that determine what your children are taught or exposed to in the school setting. Some voters will have the opportunity to vote on school and MUD bonds. This is why your vote is so important.
Eligibility
Have a question about your eligibility to vote? Check your registration status here.
Early Voting
Information about Early Voting dates, times, and locations may be found here. Voters registered in Montgomery County may vote at any Montgomery County Early Voting location. If you are registered in Harris County but live and vote in a Montgomery County jurisdiction, scroll to the bottom of the page for your Early Voting location.
Election Day Voting
Information about Election Day locations and times may be found here. Please note that you may be voting in a new location as many precincts will be combined for this election. There are only 17 Election Day polling locations. Voters must vote at the location assigned to their precinct.
Sample Ballots
A complete sample ballot is available here. This sample ballot includes ALL ballot listings and is not broken down by precinct. Your personal sample ballot shows exactly what will be on your ballot when you vote. If there are races listed on your personal sample ballot, visit candidate campaign websites and attend meet-and-greets and candidate forums to learn about their core values, character, endorsements, donors, and campaign promises. If there are any bond or tax proposals on your ballot, read them carefully and visit the taxing entity's website to look for information meetings or search local reliable news sources to understand how they will impact you.
Is Your MUD Holding an Election?
There are five Municipal Utility Districts (MUDs) holding elections on May 6 - Magnolia Woods MUDs 1 and 2, Montgomery County MUD 212, HMW Special Utility District, and New Caney MUD. These elections are not conducted by Montgomery County Elections; therefore, they are not included on the May 6 ballot. Instead, these elections are conducted by the MUD district directly. You can find voting locations and times for your MUD here. These are taxing entities with notoriously low turn-out elections, so your individual vote can have a big impact on the election results!

Join us to cover our elected officials in prayer
We live in a fallen world and our elected officials are under constant and relentless attack. As Christians, we must stand with them to help ensure that they are wearing the full armor of God.
Join the Montgomery County Republican Party as we unite to pray Ephesians 6:10-18 over our elected officials. Let's come together as a community and pray for them to be strengthened so they will be able to stand their ground against the challenges they are facing as they defend our freedoms. All of our Montgomery County elected officials will be invited to attend so we can pray over them.
"Like generations of Americans going back to the very Founders, we have an obligation to each other, and to generations yet unborn, to acknowledge that we need God’s blessing if we hope to endure." (Senator Ted Cruz)

Attend your school board meetings - your voice is making a difference!
|
An update from the Montgomery County Republican Party (MCRP) Education Committee
At the March 21 Conroe ISD Board of Trustees meeting, we had several people testify by reading directly from pornographic books found in CISD schools. The number of people testifying for the removal of pornographic books outnumbered those testifying to keep the books in our schools by approximately three to one. We need to continue this momentum so school board members will understand that our community values don't include pornographic books!
Celebrating a victory
More than 50 obscene books recently were removed from Conroe ISD libraries, including the extremely graphic Tricks, by Ellen Hopkins and Damsel, by Elana Arnold (warning - explicit content). Keep voicing your opinion on these obscene books in our local schools - your voice is making a difference!
Conroe ISD continues to make excuses
While this is certainly a victory, many more obscene and explicit books remain in our Montgomery County schools, including The Bluest Eye, Ramona Blue, and Sold (warning - explicit content). CISD incumbent board members continue to stall and make excuses as to why they cannot remove pornographic books from our school libraries and classrooms.

Going beyond the name of the "School Choice" bill - does it do what it purports to do?
by Bonnie Lyons, MCRP Legislative Committee Chair | Commentary
I have long been an advocate of the concept of school choice. How simple and logical can you get? Tax dollars should follow the school that each student chooses to attend. But is that what we will get with Senate Bill 8?

Montgomery County patriots testify against HB 4636, which creates dictatorial style political parties
This bill creates a “top-down” model for the Republican party instead of its current “bottom-up” model, destroying checks and balances within the County Executive Committee and giving the Chairman 100 percent control of the party. One can only imagine what would happen if Soros-backed money were channeled into counties to get their favorites elected.

Take Action - Election Integrity bills stalled in the Texas House
A whole string of election integrity legislation has passed through the Texas Senate. These bills have not seen any movement so far in the House. Most of the bills were filed by our own Senator Paul Bettencourt (SD 7), Senator Lois Kolkhorst (SD 18), Representative Cecil Bell (HD 3), and Representative Steve Toth (HD 15). It's time to make some noise!

Take Action - Border Security bills left pending in committee
Last week, border security measures were heard in the House State Affairs Committee and there they still sit, awaiting a vote and movement to the full House. Only 31 percent of Americans approve of Biden’s border policies, no doubt even fewer in Texas approve. Tell the House State Affairs Committee it's time to move these bills out of committee!

The Senate listened to the voices of concerned citizens and passed Senate Bills 12 and 14. SB 12 protects children from exposure to the sexually explicit content found at drag shows. SB 14 places prohibitions on treatments for gender transitioning, gender reassignment, or gender dysphoria. Both are now in House Committees.

He chairs the House Administration Committee and serves on the Natural Resources and State Affairs Committees.

"Our Kids First" Legislation would prioritize school safety over foreign aid
by Jon Bouche, MCRP Vice Chairman | Commentary
On April 4, I watched Congressman Dan Crenshaw on CNN discussing gun control. After the interview, I contacted a member of Congressman Crenshaw’s team and shared that I appreciated the way the Congressman handled this issue.
“We have armed security officers protecting our airports, our politicians, and even CNN’s offices,” said Congressman Crenshaw. “Why shouldn’t we have the same protection for our children going to school? Most schools already have armed security guards but we need to make sure they ALL do.”
I told his team member that the Congressman’s interview had inspired me to write the “Our Kids First Act," which incorporates some of Representative Crenshaw’s talking points from his CNN interview. This legislative idea is born out of the belief that America should prioritize our children over foreign aid. I also reached out to Congressman Morgan Luttrell and passed the “Our Kids First Act" on to him as well.

House Republicans reach 100-day marker, double down on promises made
In a press conference, Speaker Kevin McCarthy doubled down on the Republican Commitment to America and called on the Senate to do its constitutional duty by bringing important House-passed legislation like H.R.1 and H.R.5 to the Senate floor for a vote.

Is the RESTRICT Act too restrictive?
While most Republicans and the majority of Americans agree that the Chinese-owned video-sharing app, TikTok, is a national security risk and should be banned in the U.S., many are concerned that the RESTRICT Act to ban the app and other communication platforms developed by foreign adversaries would be a threat to basic American freedoms.

House delivers a win for girls' sports
The House passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, which allows women and girls a fair playing field in competitive sports by upholding Title IX’s recognition of a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth. But the game is not over. We encourage the Senate to take up this important issue.
