MONTGOMERY COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY
ELECTION EDITION - OCTOBER 2023
ELECTION NOTICE: November 7, 2023
Early voting begins on October 23 for the Texas Constitutional Amendments Election, and Election Day is November 7. The Montgomery County Republican Party (MCRP) Legislative Committee has researched the 14 propositions that will be on the ballot, including Proposition 4 to lower property taxes. Click below to access the MCRP Voter Guide to help you make informed decisions at the polls. You can print the guide and take it with you into the voter booth.
Conroe ISD Bond Referendum Analysis
The upcoming election on November 7 will include a package of four bonds for Conroe ISD totaling $2 Billion. A group of concerned CISD taxpayers, which included several Montgomery County GOP County Executive Committee (CEC) members, headed by Precinct 110 Chair Luis Pedraza, performed an analysis of the bond package.

While in general the group believes there is a need for more school buildings due to growth in Montgomery County and some schools being overcrowded, the conclusion overall is to vote AGAINST the bonds. 2023 Bond Referendum failure simply means another bond package would be proposed at a later date which should address wants vs. needs.

Montgomery County GOP to Hold Town Hall Focused on Law Enforcement Issues and Taxing Entities
The Montgomery County Republican Party will host a Town Hall Meeting in Conroe on October 26 with a focus on law enforcement issues and taxing entities. This Town Hall is the next in a series providing elected officials and their constituents an opportunity to discuss issues and concerns. Admission is free!

Law enforcement is high on everyone’s list right now with our open border and threats of terrorism relating to the conflict in Israel. Also on constituents’ minds are increasing water bills and property taxes. Town Hall panelists will provide more information about their respective organizations to help voters become educated on taxing entities and governance in Montgomery County.
John Wertz serves in Precinct 69 in The Woodlands. As the Montgomery County Republican Party Victory Committee Chairman, he led a Get-Out-the-Vote campaign during this biennium that resulted in the largest turnout of voters in a gubernatorial election in county history.

John has been instrumental in recruiting like-minded Christian Conservatives and helping transform the Party from a top-down dictatorial organization into a bottom-up organization with representative, grassroots leadership. “I enjoy meeting people of many different backgrounds, yet who are all pulling in the same direction,” he says. He and his wife, Rae Lynn, have been married for 36 years and have two sons and a grandson.

Precinct Chairs are elected by Republican voters on the Primary Election Ballot to represent each area precinct as the voting members of the Montgomery County Republican Party County Executive Committee (CEC). If you have questions about upcoming elections or how to help get out the vote, your Precinct Chair would love to hear from you!
Trick-or-Treat Politics: Local Democrats Masquerading as Republicans
The weather is cooling down and Halloween is upon us! There will be people dressing up like ghosts, goblins, witches, and monsters of all kinds, and we will also see people donning costumes of their favorite superheroes, storybook characters, or just fun costumes to make people giggle.

But voters should beware because this is also the time of year just prior to election season when Democrats masquerade as Republicans to try and con their way into office. One such race where you can clearly see a Democrat pretending to be a Republican is in the race for Position 5 on The Woodlands Township Board.
One such race where you can clearly see a Democrat pretending to be a Republican is in the race for Position 5 on The Woodlands Township Board.
The incumbent, Dr. Shelley Sekula-Gibbs, is a former U.S. Congresswoman and a staunch Conservative who has consistently and fearlessly stood up for Republican Party Principles and against the “woke mob.” In contrast, her Democrat opponent, Tricia Danto, has only recently voted Republican and seemingly only did so for the sole purpose of presenting herself as a Republican in this upcoming election.
Make Elections Secure in Montgomery County!
Many Montgomery County Republican Party Precinct Chairs and concerned voters have spent two years investigating Montgomery County election procedures and equipment. Their investigation revealed issues that pose a threat to the integrity of our elections. These Precinct Chairs and voters have collaborated to identify necessary changes to address vulnerabilities.

Their work has culminated in a petition that residents of Montgomery County can sign and share to tell the Montgomery County Commissioners that We the People want them to make our elections secure.

Party Passes Resolutions Addressing Voter Concerns
The resolutions address election security, pornographic materials in Texas public schools, and COVID medical freedom; honor our Texas Senators for their support of AG Paxton; and endorse Dr. Shelley Sekula-Gibbs.

Comparison: RINO/Uniparty vs. Conservatives
Not everyone who claims to be a Republican is actually a Republican. The RINO/Uniparty hides behind the Republican brand, but they are more concerned with consolidating power and influence than protecting our liberty.

AG Paxton Aftermath: Part 2
After the not guilty verdict was read and entered into the official record, thus exonerating Attorney General Ken Paxton in the impeachment trial, it left many wondering what was going to happen next. Upon his reinstatement, AG Paxton immediately got back to work fighting for election integrity, border security, and against Big Pharma and Big Tech. On October 6, Paxton announced that he will actively campaign against liberal Republican incumbents across the state.

Members of the House Investigating Committee have doubled down in their vitriol against AG Paxton and on October 9, Paxton filed criminal complaints against each of the House Impeachment Managers for releasing his family’s personal address as “additional evidence” weeks after the trial had ended. The political landscape is changing, folks, so hold onto your hats because it’s most certainly going to be a very bumpy ride.
Legislative Special Session 3 Updates
The third special session of the 88th Texas Legislature began on October 9. Governor Abbott's stated agenda items for the session include Education Freedom, Border Security, Public Safety, and ending COVID restrictions.
"For the first time ever, Texas will subject people to arrest for illegal entry into our state from a foreign nation," Governor Abbott said.
The Montgomery County Republican Party (MCRP) Legislative Committee is following significant bills, hearings, and floor votes in the third Legislative special session. The Senate has been making progress towards Governor Abbott's agenda items, while the House seems to be hiding out. The House adjourned again on Thursday and will be back in session on Monday.
State Party Passes Resolution Supporting Israel
Upon learning of the terrorist attack in Israel, Republican Party of Texas (RPT) Chairman Matt Rinaldi called for an emergency meeting of the RPT Resolutions Committee to formally express the sentiment of the State Party. The RPT pre-released a resolution, which will be passed at the Fourth Quarter State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) meeting in December.

“I worked with the Resolutions Committee in an emergency meeting to pass the Resolution Supporting Israel. The resolution was signed by all serving members of the SREC, state leadership, as well as staff of the Republican Party," said Montgomery County Precinct 72 Chair Gwen Withrow. Gwen serves on the State Republican Executive Committee for District 4 and is a member of the State Republican Party Resolutions Committee.
