The U.S. Department of Defense sent out a notice Thursday, requesting assistance from FAU and university researchers across the country.
Foreign government exploitation targeting research and intellectual capital are putting the country’s research integrity at risk, said Michael D. Griffin, the undersecretary of defense for research and engineering. Griffin outlined steps the defense department and other federal funding agencies are taking. See the notice
here
.
To address those concerns, FAU is hosting David P. Fernicola, Jr., special agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, 9 to 10 a.m. Nov. 1 to discuss "Targeting of U.S. Colleges and Universities."
His talk will focus on how America’s open and collaborative environment puts academia at risk for foreign exploitation by those who do not follow American rules or share our values. To RSVP, click
