State Awards More Than $1.1 million for Alzheimer's Research
The Florida Department of Health’s  Ed and Ethel Moore Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) Research Program awarded FAU Brain Institute r esearch fellows $1.1 million to support research that could lead to the prevention and possible cure for AD and better prevention, diagnosis and treatment. READ MORE .

Researchers Unveil Winner of 'Toughest' Sharks
Collaborators from the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science  and the   National Marine Fisheries Service , National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), recently discovered that the younger sharks are stiffer (able to resist compression) and tougher (able to absorb more energy) than older sharks. Results from the research, called “Mechanical Behavior of Shark Vertebral Centra at Biologically Relevant Strains,” were recently published in the  Journal of Experimental Biology . READ MORE.
Investigators Partner on National Study
The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute recently awarded Cheryl A. Krause-Parello , Ph.D., of the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, and colleague Dr. Linda Flynn, Rutgers University, a $250,000 research grant to study “Veterans Action League 2.0: Developing a National Veteran-centered Chronic Pain Research Agenda.”

Keryx BioPharmaceuticals recently awarded Debra Hain, Ph.D., of the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing , $ 176,300 for her study "Cognitive Support Strategies to Improve Medication in Older Adults Undergoing Hemodialysis." I nvestigator collaborators include Ruth Tappen , Ed.D., David Newman , Ph.D., both of Christine E, Lynn College of Nursing, and Monica Rosselli , Ph.D., of the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science .
