Walking Shelter Dogs may Help Vets With P ost-traumatic Stress Disorder

In a recently published study, researchers found that walking with a shelter dog may affect psychological and physiological stress in veterans – with particular potential benefits for veterans with an increase in Post-traumatic Stress Disorder symptom severity.   

Cheryl Krause-Parello, Ph.D., a professor in the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing ,  and director of Canines Providing Assistance to Wounded Warriors, was lead author on the research published in the journal   Anthrozoös . READ MORE.
Launch of New Grant Submission Platform

A new grant management software platform will change the system now used at FAU to submit grants. On July 1, the  Novelution Research Management System will replace GrantsERA. Novelution training videos are now available online by clicking here.

Researchers can sign in now using their FAU username and password. Through June 30, they can submit test proposals and get familiar with the features.

Cohort Collaboration in Marine Science

Charles E. Schmidt College of Science’s Marine Science Laboratory recently received a grant to create opportunities for collaboration across science, education and art.

The grant will help fund a cohort of scientists-in-training to gain hands-on experiences in the science and the communication of science under the supervision of by  Jeanette Wyneken , Ph.D., director of FAU’s Marine Science Laboratory and professor of biological sciences. READ MORE.
Dementia Prevention Research Continues

The Charles E. Schmidt C ollege of Medicine  is collaborating again on a new phase of research to prevent dementia.

Through an extension of a three-year, $3 million grant, researchers will launch the new FAU Center for Brain Health within its  FAU Medicine Primary Care Practice .
