Celebration of the Arts Festival

On March 21, 2023, the Special Education Department in partnership with the Community Advisory Committee presented the Celebration of the Arts Festival at Nogales High School. The event showcased the Arts of RUSD and the various creative artistic abilities of the students.

The Celebration of Arts provided students the opportunity to see and engage with different mediums of art that are taught within RUSD. Parents and community members had the opportunity to see how students create art within their electives or clubs on campus.

Sponsors brought an art activity to engage with the participants. The participants were able to create, design and learn about the art forms that are taught or coached at RUSD schools.

The evening also highlighted the work of an outstanding employee. The Alfonso Iniguez Memorial Award is for professional excellence, outstanding service, and exceptional personal character for always expressing loving care and concern for RUSD Special Education Students. Ms. Becky Gomez, Education Specialist at Oswalt Academy, (pictured below) was selected as the 2022-24 Alfonzo Iniguez Memorial Award recipient.

Special thanks to event sponsors: The RHS Digital Arts, JAR Culinary Arts, The Nogales Dance Crew, Elementary School Counselors, Behavior and Educational Strategies Team, Alyssa Marcia- Preschool, Special Education Program Specialists, and the Family Resource Center.
